Mint 5.0 want boot with a SATA drive connected

I'm having a hard time to get my computer to boot to my Linux partition. At first I get the boot screen but, it goes to this <quote>BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. Ever hear of Rogersville. It's north of Knoxville (about 80 or 90 miles) and south of Kingsport 26 (miles).

Re: Merging two partitions together

You can use gparted to expand XP. Boot a linux CD and open gparted with your windows HD plugged in. Then there will be a drop down menu in the top right of the window that shows available HD's. Find your windows HD. Right click on it and select Resize/Move. Then move the slider how ever far you wan...

Re: can't boot Mint or XP, fdisk-l below

I would try reinstalling grub. Boot a live CD. Open a terminal and run sudo grub This will drop you into a grub prompt. Run these two commands one at a time. root (hd0,0) setup (hd0) I'm having a problem getting Elyssa to boot. I can get Windows to boot.I tried what 67GTA suggested. But, I get this:...

Re: Merging two partitions together

I'm not sure what you mean by "merge" partitions. Gparted will resize any partition. Are you talking about installing Mint 5 on a separate hard drive? Is so, just plug in the drive and tell the installer to use the second hard drive. I had WinsXP and Mint 4 installed on the same disk. I installed M...

Re: Mint5 don´t installs GRUB in MBR

bikerpeter have you tried Super Grub Disk? I've got WinXP and Mint installed on the same computer. I had Celena and Daryna installed. I was going to wipe the hard drive that Celena was on. Instead I wiped Daryna out. When I done this I couldn't get nothing to boot. So I downloaded Super Grub Disk. ...

Merging two partitions together

Is there a way to merge two partitions together? I thought GParted would. But, if it can I can't figure it out. Can someone tell me of another program that will do this? I've got WinXP installed on one partition and Mint on the other. I want to make Windows bigger and install Mint 5.0 on another disk.

I would stay away from VMware. I've used it in Windows XP. It works good there. But, I've tried it in Mint. I never could get it to work. The people who supports it. Want help you unless you pay for it. VirtualBox is a great program. They have a great support forum.

Re: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.

You really only have to change the line with the failing UUID but I'd do it for all the lines It is not that hard to do after all Husse, I couldn't get it to work for me. I done what you told me. It still didn't fix it. I'm just going to install Elyssa. I was going to wait on it. But, I think that ...
