I've never tried windows 7 and have no intention of trying it tbh
but I have enjoyed reading the various opinions here :)
I've always said "use what works for you" and well, Linux works just fine for me.

Hi,


sounds like you deleted notification area from your panel.
right click on the panel and select "add to panel" you'll
get a list of applets. choose "notification area"

I just wanted to add that if you need the older legacy nvidia driver (I needed the 96.43.18 for example)
there is a great script for that called smxi. you can find out more Here

Hi, perhaps try sudo rm -rf /media/OS/Users/theo/My*/Bookselling/Website/New* or sudo rm -rf /media/OS/Users/theo/My\ Documents/Bookselling/Website/New\ text\ 23-3-2010' (its \ then a space for command line use of spaces) a word of caution though, always be extremely careful using rm -rf ! or rm -f ...

I looked in the grub file on gedit and the line you say that has the #grub-hidden timeout=0 doesn't have the # sign in front. If I take this line out would that make the grub visible. I tried the shift key but it didn't work ether. but that was on restart. I did not shut the computer completely dow...
