Re: gparted question

you can share swap amongst different distros. I do it and it works fine.
but trying to share the same /home I think would make a mess of things.

Re: How do I change permissions on root owned Fat32 Partition

there is a kde app(works fine in gnome too!!) called krusader that makes changing permissions easy.
you can get it in synaptic. it is a file browser that has a root mode. see this post topic: http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... der#p46852

Re: Im converted! love it, but got a few questions

had another quick one.... with Ubuntu and Xubuntu, they had the Add/Remove programs option that was really easy to use? whats the MINT equivalent? or will i have to do all of it in the Synaptic Package Manager... which seems to be nicely complemented by MintInstall see my post here: http://www.linu...

Re: How do I change permissions on root owned Fat32 Partition

I see nothing wrong with your smb.conf (I am no network "expert" though) maybe Husse will see something I missed (he's far more knowledgeable than I!) what I find strange is that you can access your mint home files from xp but not your fat32 partition. I would think it would be all or none if it was...

Re: Mint 4.0 Install Freezes at 15%

I have had problems installing mint with 256MB of ram.

in my personal experience, i've found it takes at least 320MB to install mint.(not the case with ubuntu)

if you can create a swap partition on your hd first, it may give the live cd the boost it needs
to successfully install. :D

Re: Mint 4.0 Install Freezes at 15%

bummer the mint live cd's give you a headache.
they've always worked just fine for me and a lot of other people I know.

personally, I like the live cd idea.(and no I am NOT a developer!!!)
that way you can check hardware compatibility and such.

hopefully you feel a little better after venting. :?

Re: What audio player you prefer as default for Mint 5.0 (Poll)

I use amarok in Gnome and like it but,
it would make more sense I guess to include a Gnome app as default.

looks like exaile is winning. :D

I'd be cool with that!

I don't really care which one is default....
I'll just install the one I want anyway

Re: Resist the Temptation (if you're new like me!)

you could try gnome-app-install.

it's a lot more like windoze add/remove programmes!(ugh)

just open synaptic and search gnome-app-install.
