Re: Add/Remove menu option

if add/remove programmes is what you want, open a terminal and type:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install gnome-app-install
or use search in synaptic to find it (gnome-app-install)

Re: Resist the Temptation (if you're new like me!)

Don't be afraid to break free, learn, and get your hands dirty. You don't have to bury yourself in it, but don't be afraid to use it either. Commands are far more powerful than a GUI can ever hope be. ah.... these are words of wisdom. chowanec, your bound to break something if you just install ever...

Re: What is your preferred Desktop Environment or WM (Poll)

It's sad to see the Mint user-forum revert to PCLinuxOS bashing, I only hope the PCLOS user-forum continues supporting Mint as it has...... I'm sure Clem will be disappointed in some. BTW, as a long time Mint user I applied the so called "PCLOS hack" and voted for KDE. I don't think anyone meant to...

Re: What is your preferred Desktop Environment or WM (Poll)

I've always preferred kde. As long it's related to Linux, I will always love it. No matter what DE/WM it is. I just really got sick Mac after using it for 3 years and don't find Windows fun to use. yes I agree!!! I love gnome almost as much as kde :D (I use both) I need to try xfce and enlightenmen...

sorry I couldn't help with nfs but, if you decide to give samba a try it's really easy. just go into administration, then into shared folders and select your shared folder's properties. instead of selecting nfs select smb. under the general properties tab, name your workgroup on both computers the s...

Re: Access shared folder from linux in a linux machine

did you share the folder using samba or nfs??
(I use samba so I can access my xp machine.)
does he have the same installed??
if he's using celena or daryna it should be as easy as looking
in his network folder located in his home folder!!
(provided your network is in order)

Re: KDE Apps in Gnome?

generally in my experience kde apps for the most part work decent in gnome
with maybe a glitch here and there. I also agree though that if you can find a gnome alternative
to use that instead. one kde app I can't live without in gnome is k3b :D
