Re: Open the Box (Part 2)

heya Ikey, I don't use openbox on mint.. I like my Gnome/metacity there but I felt I had to try your kernel tweaking guide. ^^ works like a charm!! :D I've compiled two different kernel versions on my irc/bot box (which runs Mint 5). <edit>my laptop too</edit> very handy!! thanks and cheers, Deadguy

Re: Acces /file partition, mount in home with fstab?

Not quite I think - if you mount in /home it should be yours, but that's not for sure I did mount in home with: UUID=0cdea019-6092-4199-addf-45aa9a4fc54e /home/username/files ext3 relatime, users 0 2 It's correctly mounted in home but no permission to write if not root. (is it because its ext3?) I w...

Re: Acces /file partition, mount in home with fstab?

Hi,

nadir wrote:the option <0 2 > at the end of line im not sure about (in all of mine i got <0 0 >, but i dont understand why).
the 2 enables fsck checking of non-root partitions at boot. root partition uses 1. 0 disables the checking.

Re: How do I unrestrict files

Hi again, if the mp3's are all in the same folder that you selected "open in terminal" in, the above commands will change the ownership/permissions to all mp3 files in that folder hence the *.mp3. the * is a wild card which would change all files with .mp3 to the new ownership/permissions....

Re: How do I unrestrict files

Hi, I'm going to assume that you have these mp3 files on your hard disc now, and that they are .mp3 files. the easiest way if that's the case would be to open the directory the files are in, right click and select open terminal here then use these commands: sudo chown yourusername:yourusername *.mp3...

Re: irc rules

Hi,

in my opinion, cathbard and dislexic-gaz would be the ideal choices for added ops at #linuxmint.
both are very good at helping newcomers and are very patient with people.
(I'm more of a lurker in #linuxmint really 8) )

just my 2 cents,
