Incorrect. Where is your response to the request for inxi -Fxz ? I'd go back and fulfill that, so that people who are looking to help you can do so.

Re: What do you like bout mint?

What do you mint users like about mint? I like that it "just works" (usually), and I really appreciate the community. Did you come from MAC or PC? I never left the PC architecture. :) Though prior to Linux, I was on Windows XP. Do you dual boot or use Mint exclusively? I multi-boot to several Linux...

Re: Linux Mint 19.2 Install CD Needed!

Will Linux Mint 19.2 (Cinnamon) run on our laptop (see attached spec sheet for our laptop)? I'd like to think LM 19.2 Cinnamon would run, but you'd probably get better performance from LM 19.2 Xfce. Unless I missed it on the spec sheet, I didn't see any CD/DVD drive specs. Point being, due to size ...

Re: subtitle (.srt) problem

Any suggestions, solutions...? The cause is Notepad for Windows 7, as it only recognizes Windows-based "end of line" delimiters. i.e., Carriage Return & Line Feed, not just Line Feed. Given the antiquity of that version of Notepad, I'd suggest to using a more modern text editor on Windows 7, such a...

Re: Kmymoney outside of KDE

I see that one user in a review from 2013 in the Linux Mint software manager writes, "... The only disadvantage is the amount of KDE stuff that is installed with it, but if you can put up with that it's excellent." What the reviewer is referring to is all the non-native KDE libraries that must be i...

Re: Mint Update Missing Level Column

I liked the Levels for what they were, but I think some people misinterpreted their intent, causing some security/kernel updates to never be applied, and hence their absence in LM 19.2 and beyond. C'est la vie.

Keep backups. Stay updated. Carry on.

Re: Cinnamon w WIN7

It would suit my working environment to run Cinnamon at the base and run Win7 on VirtualBox. An experienced IT engineer told me that NOT using Win at the base is a recipe for trouble. Does anyone have knowledge and/or experience? If I'm interpreting what you're saying correctly, you want to run Lin...

Re: Full Disk Backup with dd

But what I found easier with dd is that it is possible to run one single command while with Clonezilla I have to go through quite a few options. Again not to dissuade you from dd , but you can use Clonezilla from the command line too. After you go through all the menu options the first time, it wil...

Re: Full Disk Backup with dd

I like the idea of having a full disk backup. Not to dissuade you from your endeavor, but while dd will certainly do work for this, know that it's inherently slower than other disk imaging options, and the resulting path-to-file.img will be equally huge. I keep full disk images as part of my backup...

Nothing is automatic. When 19.2 is released as stable, further information will follow on a 19.1 to 19.2 upgrade.

Per the You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these and Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages messages, I'd start there.

Re: Startup problem

I think I may go for a re-install and see what happens. If and when your system leaves you in a predicament requiring a forced a shutdown, here's another option for your consideration. Linux provides for a safe way via holding down the Alt key (the left one seems to work more reliably for this, for...

Augmenting the above responses, I'd suggest backing up all your important files (which we all should be doing already), and do a fresh install of LM 18.3 Xfce. It's supported until April 2021.

See the Linux Mint Installation Guide for more information.

Augmenting the above responses, there's an install option to "Erase disk and install Linux Mint". See the Linux Mint Installation Guide for more information.
