Re: Live DVD will not boot...

...When you first boot, there's a list and 'Default' is pre-selected at the top. Do you get that far when it's booting? No. As stated in my original post, once the DVD is recognized I see what looks like a planet surrounded by colored stars and the Debian logo in the lower right. Then it stops and ...

Computer Specs: HP Pavilion - Intel Core i5 - 3.10GHz - 8 GB memory - nVidia GeForce GT 520 1 GB I burned a DVD on Ubuntu from the downloaded ISO. Inserted the disc, shut down and re...

Re: Guayadeque (music player)

I've been using Guayadeque as my primary player for some time now. I have got to say that, in my opinion, it is the best music player for Linux.....period. More info here . Want to be totally up-to-date? Install the SVN version and help test . INSTALLING SVN : sudo apt-get install subversion build-e...

Re: Missing codecs (X3Codec)

Downloading music from amule is illegal in most countries. Any other questions? Yeah...here's a question. Where do you get your info from? Downloading music from aMule (or any other such app) is NOT illegal anywhere on Earth. Downloading copyrighted music is illegal, however. Such a blanket stateme...

Re: sources.list anyone?

Thanks very much. Would it be possible for a text version, please? Technically that is the text version. That is exactly how it looks in the sources.list. Just copy and paste from the above post to your source.list via sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list Here it is in <code> deb http://packages.linuxm...

A fix has been released!

Check for updates and a new MintMenu (4.9.1) is available. Works perfectly now:

Re: Wine "Program" submenu not in Mint menu

I've since gone back to the traditional menu as MintMenu seems a bit buggy. Not only do some apps not work when clicked, but as reported here, the submenus do not appear for Wine. I rebooted and no sub menu. I reloaded plugins, no submenu. I removed MintMenu from the panel and then put it back, no s...

Not showing all available apps???

Running Mint 8-

MintInstall, now generically titled ''software manager'', does not reflect the repos the same way Synaptic does. Nowhere near the amount of programs available in Synaptic are are visible in the software manager.

Re: Lack Of Partitioning Feedback

I generally bypass all that. Prior to install, I have a 40-60 partition of "unallocated space". So I choose the "use largest free space" option.

Re: Is Mint Ubuntu?

From my experience so far, there are subtle differences between Mint 8 and Karmic. Even the repos in sources.list are the same as Karmic (with the exception of several Mint-specific repos). With the exception of codecs being included on OS install, several additional apps, I see no real difference b...
