LM-KDE-13 5 years support?

Canonical has announced the next LTS which will be released in 1204 to be supported for 5 years instead of the current 2. To me this is excellent news and hopefully the solution for LM-KDE's future, in my opinion much better than the projected LMDE-KDE. I'm welcoming comments PROS/CONS about this an...

Re: The passing of one of our own

Even I never had any contact with Robin I'm feeling his lost. Any member of the Mint community is like a family member to me too. My sympathies to family and friends. God bless him.

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I agree totally with tdockery97 LMDE was a novelty that the community wanted to test and experiment with. I downloaded Kubuntu 11.10 and after a couple of tweaks I found it to be a fantastic edition, almost as fast as LMDE is and easier to update to the latest software levels. Since a LMDE is alread...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Thank you Clem for cleaning up the air. It might be very difficult to maintain a distro such as Linux Mint on your own, a distro that has become so popular in the Linux world that appears is suffocating itself because of high expectations. In my opinion, this is what has been happening in here, luck...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I agree with all of you...we are scratching our heads waiting for Linux Mint to inform us when a new KDE release will happen, we have been waiting patiently since early May but not luck. I guess it is not their priority at this time and got busy trying to figure out how best to serve Gnome editions ...

Re: LM9: Wireless Works, Internet & Mail Don't

Andrew, I'm not a guru but have you tried running the live CD and see if it connects? You may see hot spots but not adquiring the IP address, correct? It just could be your wireless configuration or the kernel not supporting the device. Hope some one has a better ideas than I do...Cheers

Re: Is It Ever Going To Happen

I was going to reply, but ThistleWeb explained it better then i possibly could... :) And again, i suggested Kubuntu because if one prefers an ubuntu base, it looked pretty polished to me the last few times i checked it out... ThistleWeb explained very well why the mint team is going in the directio...

Re: Is It Ever Going To Happen

Personally, if i was a KDE fan i'd go with Kubuntu myself... craig10x. Might I know if you speack as an individual user or if you speack as a Linux's Mint assigned speacker for this forum? Just I want to know because if you are speacking as an assigned by Linux Mint I might believe that KDE users a...

Re: Mint 11 KDE development

So no word since the "mid-August" projection? No activity on the Community ISO page either... Everything is waiting on the final release of the LMDE respin as well as the finalization of the new LMDE update system. Testing of both is going on right now at a rapid pace, believe me. Unfortu...

Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

I really do appreciate what LM is doing for all of us, however I feel some sort of abandon as a KDE user, just see how other environments the developers participates with the users on their forums. I don't know, but I feel we are not treated the same in here. I may be wrong, but that is what I feel ...

Re: Mint 11 KDE development

Andre5859. Fantastic to hear. I solved my flasplayer problem. To create the document, obviously, one needs to be on root. Everything works very smooth. Those are litle problems I'm sure will be fixed on the final release and on LMDE_KDE. The experience so far is fantastic.

Re: Mint 11 KDE development

In my own opinion, having KDE on a LMDE base, will, in esscence make KDE a more stable and will also make it a rolling release without the need for installing a new version everytime one comes out....I'm currently experimenting with my own version of a LMDE_KDE, and let me say, it's pretty cool. It...

randomizer, about the fonts I followed the instruction on this link http://omnsproject.org/?p=651 and the difference is amazing. About the Flash I run the command "sudo update-alternatives --auto libflashplayer.so" described on the "known problems" the sound works OK but not whe...

[Solved]Re: LMDE 201108 RC (Gnome & Xfce) released!

Solved partitions problems, I can see them all now. Fonts are working good and partially solved Flash audio Player. Thanks for your assistance. Well you should be able to mount them through Nautilus or terminal, but NTFS partitions will require elevated privileges. If you try to mount them what err...

(solved) New to LMDE gnome

I solved most of the problems listed below. I really like LMDE, is very responsible and stable. Hopfully the rough edges can be ironed on the final release. I downloaded the latest release of LDME gnome 201108RC. Using the live DVD I was able to see my other disk partitions, ext4 and NTFS ones. Aft...

Re: Mint 11 KDE development

I agree with you Andrew. This has happened many times in the past regarding KDE. Hopfully Boo can have a couple of minutes of his time and give us an update about the development of LMDE KDE or if there is going to be a release after all of KDE11.

Re: Mint Katya running a vanilla KDE install

Solna, where did you get the ISO? The only thing I can see about LMDE KDE11 is Boo has not updated any information at all for the last month on the progress of Katya. I'm waiting to give it a try as soon as it is released.

Re: Mint 11 KDE development

Boo, it may be a wise move. Good luck and hope it will be at least as good as the previous releases or much better.
