Re: How to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers in LinuxMi

hit ctrl+alt+f1, that will make sure you get back to the tty1, sometimes when you shut down the Xserver, it switches you to the tty7, not sure why it does it sometimes, but it's easy to just get back to tty1.

How to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers in LinuxMint

If you are having trouble with drivers that are installed using the "Addition Drivers" tool included in LinuxMint, that is when you should try this method, if the drivers installed using that tool work for you, there is no reason to do this. Also if you are an eperienced linux user, and want to exp...

Everyone, as a reminder, please, DO NOT post screenshots directly in the forums, use an outside image host, like OmpLoader , or ImageBox , and put the thumbnail code into the forums with a link to the fulsize image. This will help keep the forums looking cleaner, and help users with slower internet ...

Re: Conky Showoff thread

This is my latest conky, I used a lua script made by Sector11 from Conky Pit-Stop , and added another lua to draw a background a,d boarders to it, as well as make the hands have a thick to thin look to them. The CPU bars come out from the center, and there are alarm colors for when things start to r...

Re: A previous installation was detected

Don't select anything in Windows, just reboot the computer with your DVD in the tray, and when the computer starts, you should see something flash on the screen that says something like "bott options", or "startup disk" or something like that, its usually requires you to press one the F buttons, for...

Re: Linux Mint Features

Mint (or Linux in general), is great for all sorts of things, the only place that I take Windows over Linux is gaming, (and I am an avid gamer). As for for programing, you can program for justaboutanything you could ever want to in linux, in fact, most major web developers use Linux, including Faceb...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Ok, this is my latest project, a total respin of Mint9, i took a base install, and then completely tore it down to its base, removed everything in it, changed some repos, and installed custom compiled versions of things like, the kernel, Gnome, firefox, and various apps, to what I wanted, so this is...

This is my latest conky, it has a now playing, using an "if" variable, so it shows which media player I'm running, or if I'm not listening to any music, it just displays what is shown in the screenshot. I also have a conky from server running in a screened shh session, so I don't need to have a term...

Re: WOTM Source files

The WOTM has been dead for a while, I got very ill and had step down from everything I was doing in the Mint community, and the art kind of fell by the wayside, so unfortunately for the time being, WOTM isn't going on, that may change in the future, but for right now, it is what it is. I am going to...

Re: Katya won't shut down.

autoremove isn't always a good idea, sometimes it can remove things that other programs rely on, and sometimes don't list in the dep file. I have had an entire Gnome setup go kaput due to losing just a couple of lib files that were remove in an autoremove. It's tough to find out what file was remove...
