Re: Mint LXDE CE OFFICIAL!!!

I want to apologize to everyone for the lack of development, and my absence as of late, I had a baby and have had to tend to other issues. I will be trying to get things rolling soon. I just wanted to let everyone know what was going on, and that I did not flake out on the project, just have life is...

Re: Wireless problem

Ahhh, Atheros, they are a fun one. It could be the drivers, and it could also be something very very simple, such as a wireless kill switch. check the kill switch, and if that is not the problem, open a terminal and enter

Code: Select all

sudo iwconfig -a
and post the output here, hopefully it is something easy.

Re: Problems with dual head mode (ATI)

do you have the ati catalyst control center installed? I have never really tried to do a dual monitor with my lappy, (also an Acer Travelmate, 8201wlmi, with an ATI x700m card). Though I know that on my desktop, i have to use the CCC to d oanything with 2 monitors using an ATI card.

Re: two users, problem with mounting hard drives

Ok, there is a fairly easy way to fix this, and that is to have the drive mount upon boot. To do this you have to edit the fstab in the /etc folder. We need more info on your hardware to be able to tell you how to do this. 1. open a terminal and enter this sudo fdisk -l and post the output here. 2. ...

Re: Touchpad hotkeys?

short answer, no. There are things you can do with Compiz, like "hot spots" that do certain things when you move the cursor to them. But other than that, there is nothing that I know of that can do the Mac like mouse gestures.

Re: Problems with ATI Radeon 3680 HD AGP

there is an issue with the new xorg and the ati drivers. I have major issues in Mint7 and Ubuntu 9.04 as well. There is nothing that can really be done until ATI releases updated drivers, or someone figures out a workaround for the issue. I have gone back to using the mesa drivers which seem to have...

Re: In the future...

I have both 32, and 64 bit systems, my main desktop is 64 bit, my laptop, and server, are both 32 bit. Also, netbooks are 32 bit. 64 bit apps are still among the minority, things such as, adobe flash, still only 32 bit for windows, there is a 64 bit flash for linux, but still not for windows, or mac...

Re: newbie legality question

If you are a user in the US (like me) you will have no issues using the main edition. What is being said in the info, is if you plan on distributing, then you have to have a license to distribute MP3, flash, and other codecs, or just give this edition, and leave using the codecs up to the end user. ...

Re: Howto: Install OpenOffice 3 in Felicia

Aging Technogeek,
To fix the spelling error, just open a terminal and reinstall aspell english

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install aspell-en
that should fix the red lines.

no, as it is meant for low power machines. However, once the meta package is created, it will be easy to add to a Mint x64 install.

Re: Audio is too quiet to hear.

I am going to assume that you are using Gnome, (please correct if I am wrong). The easiest way, and most common way, to fix this is to double click on the volum icon in the taskbar, that will open up the volume settings dialogue, this is where you will find the levels for all the volume settings. Re: Preferred Wireless Networks, and Network Order

There are ways to do this, but it all depends on what you want to use for your network manager. I personally use Wicd, and it does have the option to connect to a selected network on startup, and make that network preferred.

Re: Installing with 2 hard drives??HELP

We need to know what you plan on doing with your system. Do you plan to dual boot Windows AND Linux, or are you going to run Linux only? How much space do you plan on using for Linux, etc. etc.?
