Re: Broadcom 4312 and HP Netbook

I'm changing tack here because I have not been able to get my Broadcom 4312 wireless card to work with Debian Mint. So, is there anyone out there that has succeeded where I have failed? Both my Dell laptop and Gateway netbook have the Broadcom 4312 wifi and both work fine with LInux Mint Debian (LM...

Re: A small request in re MintBackup.

The sources.list is just a flat text file, why not just copy it to your home directory, then when you did a backup it would get backed up & upon a restore you could cut and paste the required entries to the new sources.list

Just a thought

Re: Netbook Install....debian?

I just installed it on my Gateway LT2032, the only tihng I had to do was install and configure the Broadcom 4312 wifi which is the norm for most distros. I can't coment on the speed yet as I haven't used it enough yet to really tell. The few things I have done it preformed well. I wish I would have ...

I have had it ask me for the root password and I have used my sudo pw and it worked so I'm thinking it's cosmetic.

Re: Frustrating LMDE bug- nothing will open.

I would create another user and login as that user and see if the problem still persist. If all works with the new user then I would say that there is a problem in your home directory somewhere.

Re: Anyone here use the Opera web browser?

I use a mixture of Opera and Firefox in LMDE, I like Opera but I find that there are somethings on some sites that just don't work as well or at all, most problems I have is with java applets. It seems to have gotten better with 10.62 but at this point I'm not willig to have it as my only browser. I...

Re: I give up!!

I sort of feel the same way about Windows, back in the old days I could fly around in it and make it jump through hoops, now I'm lucky if I can login. Anyway that won't help you any so a couple of questions to see if we with the help of others can get you on the right trail. I have found the 32 bit ...

Re: so what about LMNR??

I too have tried some of the special editions just for netbooks and was not impressed at all. I like the look and feel of a normal distro such as Mint, Debian, or even Ubuntu on it. I have had all those on it and each ran fine. Now I'm getting ready to put LMDE on it if the netbook reacts to it like...

Re: Basic packages to be included in the next version of LMD

I have my own personal preferences that I install in almost any distro that I install, but that is just me. I do think there are a fewpackages missing in the out of the box version of LMDE gdebi : to install downloaded *.deb packages gstreamer0.10-x264 : to use video chat with gmail users in pidgin ...

I am now downloading it....
Yes, be sure and burn at the slowest speed and do an md5 checksum. There will be an icon on the desktop for installation when you are ready to install.

Re: LMDE: Picasa disappears

Well I did an update a little while ago and now picasa is gone from the menu again. I can't say for sure if it was there just before the update. Picasa is there and will run from the terminal so it's there it just disapperars from the mintmenu and if I install the gnome menu it isn't there either. S...

Re: Linux Mint destroyed my hard drive?

I had the same thing happen after trying out mint a while back. i too read in a few forums that others had the same issue. however, i doubt seriously that any software can damage a harddrive i do believe that it made the harddrive (whether through permissions or authority) unable to be formatted. i...

Re: LMDE: Picasa disappears

The saga continues, today this morning when I boot up picasa was there. I haven't used it all day but this evening I checked and it was gone from the menu again. If you opened a terminal and typed "picasa" without quotes it started fine. This tells me that it is there it's just being removed from th...
