Re: zoneminder 1.25 on linux mint 13

Thank you alcatail for posting your work... it's making me consider using your method step by step. Maybe I missed these details, if so please excuse my asking. What version of Mint 13? What hardware box (cpu/ram/etc.) ? What cameras are you using? How many cameras? Any other details on how this is ...

Thank you one (Clem), thank you all (team Mint)!

In a short period of time this went from incredibly frustrating and un-useful to fantastic.

My best to you all.

NOT-Solved: Mint 13 Cinnamon STILL freezing

Using the nightly build ppa no longer works. The crashes are back and Maya 13 Cinnamon is not stable at all.

Is there anything else to try? Or should I just forget about using Cinnamon on my Thinkpad T60?

I see claims of a cure, but it's not clear what has been done.

Thank you.

Maybe if that problem hits me in the head enough, I'll start to remember it for other glitches.

I may not be smart, but I'm slow

Re: Pidgin poop: "Logging of this conversation failed"

1) Install the latest version of Pidgin (2.10.6) Did that, no help. 2) Remove the buddy with whom it happens and add him/her again. This worked for some, not sure if it will help you. It's everybody on Yahoo and possibly Hotmail/Live. This is not a user by user problem. but if I think of something ...

Re: Pidgin poop: "Logging of this conversation failed"

some say it was due to an update and that it was automagically resolved by just restarting Pidgin, so you might try that. The computer has been restarted many times, and I just restarted Pidgin on it's own... no luck on that one. Wouldn't surprise me on the update issue as I've noticed that the tra...

Yeah... I'm very pleased now and glad things are working.
IMO, this box may be one of the finest values in computing price/power I've seen and Mint Magic is good too.

best to you,

Re: [Solved] System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon

Updating Cinnamon to the latest Nightly build (via the "cinnamon-nightly" PPA) solved the problem for me too. Thankfully!!! I even did a large presentation with all sorts of programs open (FireFox, Chrome, Google Video, M$ Windows in VirtualBox, etc...) the other night for a large group and it went ...

Any way to document a trend?
Is there any information those of us with headaches can help isolate the hardware 'cocktail' that seems to be the problem? If you need information, please let me know what I can provide.

Re: [Solved] System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon

This really is a big problem. Random desktop freezes should not happen in modern operating systems. This is extremely damaging to the LinuxMint brand (and to Ubuntu and Linux in general) I agree. Once the LTS came out, I was excited to upgrade numerous client machines, thought that by the time Cinn...

Re: [Solved] System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon

I am having a similar problem: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=107089 I saw your post says "Solved" but after reading it appears not solved as much as you dealt with it by changing to GNOME. When you say "GNOME Classic" do you mean MATE? or the official GNOME released desktop? I kn...

Re: Cinnamon stability problems

Yes, it does look like that. Was trying to isolate a particular program that was always open when this problem occurs... I cannot say that it's only when LibreOffice is open, but I know last night the machine was *non-stop* crashing when trying to use LibreOffice at the same time as Firefox. All act...

Cinnamon stability problems

Hello, I've been running Mint 13 Cinnamon 32 bit on a Thinkpat T60 for well over a month and it's the most unstable version of Mint I've ever used. If I only run one or two apps at a time, it's more stable, but I've *always* run multiple browser windows with numerous tabs in each, plus LibreOffice, ...

Login problems, now no "sudo" password

Hello, Mint 13 is my first time working with Cinnamon and am trying to figure out some of the differences and decide whether the stability issues are worth it or not. My first problem is with the login. I was looking to see if there was/is a way to *not* have to type the username, but only the passw...
