Network Manager & Mint Update

I have inadvertently erased both of these 'applets' which were to the left of the Date and Time. With the Mint Update I have succeeded in replacing the 'applet' but not the function that advises that updates are waiting. Replacing the vertical bars, wlan signal strength indicators, of Network Manage...

Re: How do you remove the Raid Function from a motherboard CURED

You are a star. I have been banging my head on this problem for days. I knew that there were hardware and software arrays but thought that disabling the hardware array in the bios would be the cure. Removing "dmraid" stopped LinuxMint from trying to install on an 'array' partition. Thanks a million ...

How do you remove the Raid Function from a motherboard?

I am trying to recommission a computer with LinuxMint Helena and MS XP. The previous usage of the motherboard incorporated an on board raid array which I would like to disable. It is a Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 board with Nvidia nForce 570-SLI sata controllers which support a variety of Raid configurati...

Kmymoney2-kde4

Has anybody installed kmymoney2_3.95.0+svn1069391-2_i386.deb and the associated common files on LinuxMint Helena?
My efforts are met with a broken package message as it is looking for kdelibs5 >4:4.3.4.
LinuxMint Helena uses kdelibs5 4:4.3.2 with the Ubuntu qualification.

Re: Grub 2 - The Users Choice

Composition of a Bespoke Grub Screen I followed http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/grub-2.html. This proved to be a lucid and well written tutorial. My machine is a 2 core AMD 64bit processor on a Gigabyte motherboard with built in Sound and Video. I am a refugee from Xandros seeking a new operating...

Grub 2 - The Users Choice

In Grub 1, the legacy edition, you could happily edit /boot/grub/menu.lst to change - "Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (on /dev/sda7)" to "Debian5.2" a far more user friendly descrption. You can remove lines from /boot/grub/menu.lst which are of little use to a 'normal' user such as "Memor...
