Re: Mint RC10 not recognizing monitor resolution

I couldn't give a definite answer to that I'm afraid but there would be a much better chance of it working installed than from live CD.

Re: Mint RC10 not recognizing monitor resolution

You can install the proprietary drivers on the live CD (only until reboot), just install them and hit ctl+alt+backspace and log in with "mint" as username and no password (i think those are correct)

Re: Screen issue at boot

if its only a relatively new install could I suggest a re-install? Make sure you do the CD check to make sure its ok. Did you install any propriatary drivers from the hardware drivers program in the menu? Another thing you could try first is updating any drivers that you may be using (these are in t...

Re: Help with WZ2100

One in software manager is 2.2.4 whereas one from website is 2.3.5 so yeah guess it is kinda old.

There's a pretty good looking and comprehensive guide on the WZ forums here http://developer.wz2100.net/wiki/LinuxCompileGuide

Not sure about XFCE but in Gnome you should be able to do that using Compiz (just install the settings manager from the software centre, it may be in the "extra" compiz settings (also in the software centre) just search "compiz" and you should see them

Re: Software to virtually control another PC

Yep, search for xtightvncviewer in the software manager or just type

Code: Select all

apt install xtightvncviewer
into the terminal.

You get to it by typing

Code: Select all

xtightvncviewer <ip_address>
where <ip_address> is the ip of the computer you want to control eg 192.168.0.5 then type in the password for it

Try this http://sourceforge.net/projects/cupsdriverkodak/

No guarantee it works, Kodak seem to have a completely lame Linux support, this was written by someone else.

Re: Can I stick a backup script somewhere in a shutdown rout

Have a look at Back in Time http://backintime.le-web.org/ (also in software manager) takes regular backups in a fairly intelligent way whenever you want, very similar to Apple's Time Machine. If you do want to run backup at shutdown, why not make a custom bash script which you run when you want to s...

Re: Involuntary Re-login screen appears
