Re: Novatech X10 built in webcam

Try downloading cheese, go to software manager and type cheese and install it. Run that and see if it picks up your webcam. Some cameras are hard to get working but if it can be used by other programs, it might be easier to do it in pidgin.

Re: Website for Parts to build a Linux/Windows PC?

Although it's only in alpha, have a look at community.linuxmint.com, find the hardware section. It's a place where people can post their hardware and how well it works. It'd only been up for a couple of days so limited amount of components and the website can be buggy as it is not designed for gener...

Re: How do we mount volumes without passwords ?

Go to Package Manager and install MountManager. You can select the volume on the left then change who can mount this partition to everybody in the box on the right. You can also select to mount the volume on startup which is what i do, means I can keep my music just on Windows side and listen to it ...

Re: Automatically Change Frequency Scaling on Battery/AC

It would seem that this should be the most logical default option, strangely enough, my desktop also running Mint is set to Ondemand by default!

I'll keep trying to see if i can work anything out and post it here if I do.

Re: Missing volume control

Strange, thats where I'd have thought it was. Another thing to try is goto "Startup Applications" under Preferences in the Mint Menu and see if Volume control is ticked, even if it isn't try unticking then ticking it again and restarting. I've found out that the volume control is part of the notific...

[Solved]Automatically Change Frequency Scaling on Battery/AC

To get the best performance from my laptop when its plugged in I'd like to have the frequency scaling set to 'Performance' and when its on battery set to 'Ondemand'. I know you can do this manually with the Frequency Monitor but is there any way of doing it automatically? I tend to forget until batt...

Re: Feedback about community.linuxmint.com

Strange, I was thinking today that a hardware information sharing site would be exactly what Mint needed and here it is! However i agree with raywoods, submitting a hardware report goes to 404 error. Mine was a printer too site directed to was http://community.linuxmint.com/index.php/hardware/save H...

Re: Missing volume control

If you right click an empty space on the bar click add to Panel then find volume control and press add. If you right click on that and click move you can put it where you want on the panel.

Re: Power Status on Dell 700m

I had this problem on a previous laptop. Not sure on how to solve but if I remember correctly the work around I used was to go to power options and change action on lid close to blank screen as the commands somehow get mixed up and when you plug in or unplug it sleeps your laptop. Very annoying thou...
