Re: Would like to undo what "ntfs config tool" did [SOLVED]

Also like to add thanks, was watching this thread as I wanted to do the same thing after NTFS config tool did that. Not sure why it can't undo its own actions!

Re: Mint 9 wont detect my gpu

I'm really not sure on this I'm afraid, I've tried to search but have not found anything similar. I would imagine its something to do with the new way Ubuntu and therefore Mint deals with hardware. The only other thing I can think of is somehow blacklisting the integrated card or possibly try making...

I going to remain positive, 2-1 England! I'm hoping Wednesday was a turn-around. Going to be a good match though! What about you?

Re: How to get the new Android Slingplayer client to run on

Unfortunately I don't think that's possible, you can use the Android SDK to 'install' .apk files but that's not really what you're after. There also seems to be a way of getting Slingplayer to work under Wine, but I'm not sure of the results.

Re: Mint 9 & Ubuntu One Music Store

Yep should be fine. I've got it installed and all seems fine, never downloaded from it yet though! Just go to the software manager and search for

Code: Select all

rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store
install it then go to Rhythmbox and you should see it listed under the stores title.

Re: mint 8 (helena) monitor issues with fujitsu laptop...

sorry dark_necros, I somehow overlooked this thread! Having had a search around, people seem to have had success with i915.modeset=0 in the same place that you put nomodeset. That was only temporary BTW. If that works, to make it permanent, gksudo gedit /etc/default/grub then find the line which say...

Re: A GUI for managing HW drivers?

Try

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
or

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/init.d/networking stop
then

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/init.d/networking start
I don't know of any graphical methods to do it, or even if that will work!

Re: Proprietary Driver install?

if you have another mint computer running the same type (32 or 64 bit) of mint (or presumably Ubuntu) then you can do it using apt. I'm not certain what files you need, I think its bcmwl-kernel-source and b43-fwcutter which you can download the .deb by doing apt download <name of file> . If you don'...

Skype has always been like that, its a known problem which also effects Ubuntu. To change it, in Skype, goto options and in the general tab, in the "Choose style" dropdown box, choose "Desktop settings" then apply and restart skype

Aw shucks  Yeah to make it permanent just follow what I said about nomodeset but obviously with i915.modeset=1 driver=intel instead. Can you edit your first post and change the subject to include [solved] to help others? Glad it was solved, I'm sure you'll stumble across a post you'll be able t...

Re: cuddos and is this a safe fix?

There shouldn't be any problem with the AHCI to IDE change, the only issues that I know of are Windows won't boot if you change them, however assuming you don't dual boot that's no problem to you.

Afraid to say i know of no repair connection button

Re: Mint 8 - partitions

Your installation medium is on dev(slash)sda2. You will not be able to create, delete or resize partitions on this disk This sounds like you're trying to install mint on the same place that you have the installation files. what do you mean by from Windows XP? as in using mint4win (not in mint 8)? I...

According to the Cisco VPN site they have a Linux site, however you need a login to download it. Someone has also made a free client http://projects.tuxx-home.at/?id=cisco_vpn_client As for a remote desktop, I use xtightvncviewer which should do what you want. install it (if it isn't by default) wit...

Re: I want to come back to Mint!

Yes is the short answer!

There's no reason that you shouldn't be able to just do the same with Mint 8 or 9 as you did with Lucid, keep you /home and install the OS over the Lucid partition.
