O.K.! Wine doors also loaded a program called AutoHotKey.

That was still installed. I changed its permissions, and everything is back to normal

Try that and see if it works for you.

I have the same issue.

I reinstalled mintmenu, still the same.

I uninstalled wine, wine doors and wine gecko, then rebooted. Still the same.

I renamed my second HD as 80GBACKUP, and my windows drive (C) as WINDOZE, by using "rename" in "my computer", and that is what they show up as in Mint. I think you may be stuck with upper case, but it works. Try it!

If you have windows, use that to rename it. (In "my computer").

Works fine for me.

Open a terminal, then do . . . killall pulseaudio

Then try Audacity again.

Have you looked at HandBrakeGTK?

I use Audacity, too. Turn off pulseaudio and try again. Works for me.

Use the killall I posted above.

As for uninstalling it, I too suggest you wait a while.

Open a terminal, paste this in,

killall pulseaudio

I found that this "floppy=off irqpoll" worked for me.

Miro is a good option for a stand alone program, otherwise you can get add-ons for your browser.

I'm having the same problem as everyone else here. How is it that an LTS release that is supposedly rock solid stable is unable to even boot on so many machines? That's inexcusable. I reinstalled using EXT2 for root. Couldn't get to the desktop at all. Reinstalled with EXT3, and got to the desktop first try.
So, no nearer to a solution.

If the problem reappears I'll try the modified boot argument.

When the iso is updated for the "mintassistant bug", I'll download it and try a fresh install with ext2 for the root.

Would be nice to see some input from Clem or Husse about this issue.
