Re: Fresh install Mint 5 Elyssa and no gui to be had

I'm not convinced that EXT3 is the problem. I have just read the User Guide, and it specifically says to use EXT3 for the root partition.

Re: ELYSSA WON'T BOOT!!!

I think this thread is the same as . . .

I turned off quiet and splash, but each time I rebooted (soft reset) it stopped in different places.

Re: Fresh install Mint 5 Elyssa and no gui to be had

I never had this problem with Daryna.

Anyway, I turned off quiet & splash at the grub screen, did several soft boots, because the first didn't work, and the list on the screen stopped at different places each time. So, not much help from that. Would the system logs help? If so which one?

Re: Fresh install Mint 5 Elyssa and no gui to be had

I have exactly the same problem with my desk-top. Asus M2NPV-VM AMD 6000 X2 2Gb DDR2-800 Seagate 320 Gb Viewsonic 22 widescreen If I do a soft reset after the GUI fails to open, the system starts up normally. I also did a complete reinstall, including my home partition, when this problem occurred, s...

We are waiting for a new one for the Livecd, but you can get one that will work here.

No problem running the cd, but the default 800x600 screen is unuseable on my monitor. Envy gave an error saying it wasn't supported by my hardware (something like that). Strange, Celena is O.K. with envy.

Their servers are taking a huge hit and have been up and down all day.
So it probably is a network problem. Good to know. Thanks.

Downloaded and installed just fine. It's great. Love it.

I very nearly installed Opera from an AptonCD backup. If I had, then I would not have shown up in the FireFox stats. As it was I went for the Software Portal version.

Hello

Hello everyone. First post. I have been using Cassandra for a few months (still a Linux noob), and enjoy it so much that I decided to try Celena. The install was simple, but I do have one or two comments to make. My system . . Asus M2NPV-VM/AMD X2 6000, 320g Sata with xp and Cassandra, 80g IDE (slav...
