Everything you all said seems so veryincorrect. in fact i copied the sources.list from the apt directory of a linux mint install and install it to the apt directory of an ubuntu install and walla... i did an update then an upgrade then went into synaptic to add the mint meta packages... looked for ...

Thanks.. that dockbar is AWN Lucido style. For date, memory etc, i use conky along with lua rings (at the middle of the screen)

You say that you can't do multiboot on your work PC - fairly understandable given that most IT departments wouldn't want to be sorting out any problems caused by this. Take the plunge Keshin, install Linux next to your Windows in it's own partition and boot directly into your Linux OS.. +1 that's better way to do it so that these kind of things won't happen anymore. As for mistake, once is more than enough isn't it? :) I have never understood the reasoning or app...
