Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Re: As bad as windows is, ready to go back.

I thought, lets see what happens, and I inserted a music DVD and then a movie. To my surprise VLC was one of the choices in Mint 10. Wow it is already there. Of course there were several media players offered, but after comparing them, VLC proved to be the best to play audio dvd's and movies. Linux...

Re: Google "survey" pops up on fresh install

Long story short did a fresh install of the latest Linux Mint 10.10 Gnome. 1st rule you may want to add to your to-do lists whenever your download is finished (be it linux mint .iso file of any versions or any other distro) is to check the md5sum. if the md5 is not correct, then your file that you ...

Re: Mark Shuttleworth, the idiot of the century

The only idiocy in humankind history is to comments and complaining and whining on some other people's work in the hope that it will change and the changes will satisfy them instead of to give something and change something themselves. Ironically, we as human won't be satisfied over anything. Nothin...

Re: ? about startup programs

Well, I'm kind of glad I screwed that up. There are only three items in autostart. They seem to be the ones I've added. Some of the others I think I see in /etc/init.d. Then there are some that I'm not sure of. Some of it seems to be related to upstart. I understand a bit more about init.d an...

Tested it on the day Julia KDE was release and can confirm it doesnt work.. :( so i install Julia Main using mint4win and install KDE thru package manager although it requires so...

Re: ? about startup programs

(how it was starting at that point, I don't know) After that I dropped to root again and did an 'apt-get remove conky', not knowing that I needed to remove conky-all, so that didn't work. ...
