Re: KDE 4.4 on the way

How did you manage to do that? There are a couple of things that aren't as smooth in 4.4 that makes me want to do the same. I don't know if i use the word 'revert' correctly but what i do is just restoring back the image of my mint with kde 4.3.5 which i created earlier using partimage. The only wa...

Re: KDE 4.4 on the way

Turn on Nepomuk and see if that takes care of that. I believe i had done it before with no joy. and if i try to run the dolphin from konsole with kdesudo or sudo, SOMETIMES it complain about "...DBus Backend error... Connection error..." and sometimes it give a veryyy long error. Other than that, i...

Re: KDE 4.4 on the way

hi all.. last week, i'm installing helena kde x64 and although it run smoothly without any issues in my machine, i can't resist the temptations to upgrading kde to 4.4. So, enable the kubuntu backport repo, and do a dist-upgrade. After upgrading to kde 4.4, just have some minor issues (the user manag...

Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

I think i've made a huge mistake to take part in this "discussions" that doesn't seem as a discussions to me. I'm just always believe that no one should give an ORDER to you on what you should do with your machine, this is an open source world. You can do whatever you want to do with it, what the ot...

Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

One should not automaticly make the assumption that a 64 bit OS is better than 32 bit OS. It can be and in many cases is better, but other things should be taken into consideration too. Please refer to the post below. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=41540&p=239125&hilit=Fred+gentle...

Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

so why not use a 64 bit - Operating System which is nearly always better? Why would you want 32bit if there really aren't any advantages? i have to agree with you on that. But still curious and almost more curious than before (or maybe had to say "CONFUSE??" :-P ) after reading some *debates and/or...

Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

I respectfully disagree. 64 bit has a big speed advantage (besides handling bigger memory). See this post about systematic benchmarking. It has appeared in this forum before and gives impressive mumbers. http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=ubuntu_32_pae&num=1 errrr, forgive my noob s...

Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

hi all, i really hope 32bit editions will be developed and released first as usual even i have 64 bit box. voting scheme wont be accurate enough. if possible, see how much people downloading and using 32 bit edition vs 64 bit. for the fairness sake, of course i hope both editions can be released on ...

Re: Adding KDE to Mint -- Which approach do you use??

my first post here! :)

i use mint 8 and after 1 week playing around with gnome, feel bored so i add kde in my mint. just by searching for KDE in synaptic, mark all kde parts that i need manually and i always try to just add the one that will have an update from canonical.
