Re: MintUpdate

Open the following file via terminal gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list Remove the word "universe" from the Linux Mint repo line. Yep, that did the trick... Thanks! :) How did "universe" ever get in there? I initially did not have this problem but it started a few days ago on my relatively fresh LM...

Unable to start the settings manager gnome-settings-daemon

Hi, Sometimes, after a fresh boot and login, I find that the appearance has changed. It seems to be some default theme and when I open the Appearance Preferences, I get the message: Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'. Without the GNOME settings manager running, some prefere...

Re: Ubuntu One in Debian Edition ?

I must commend you for your tenacity. I'd have given up at the first hurdle  I wonder, though, whether if you had got it working as it should, would all the effort have been worth it? not so cynical! ;) ... i've got some backups stored on U1 so it would have been nice to see it working. beside...

Re: Sleep/Hibernate/Suspend to Disk/S2D not working :(

Hi RavanH! The problem with swap has been solved several times, e.g. see: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=141&t=62519&start=60 It was a long action and page 4 shows a solution - you should read it and ask your question if necessary. If you are not sure to do it alone, please post the co...

Re: Ubuntu One in Debian Edition ?

So I decided to try U1 on LMDE just to see if it where possible. After studying dependencies of different versions of the ubuntuone-client package as described on https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntuone-client I think going for the Lucid version was the safest bet. So here goes: Download/open...

Sleep/Hibernate/Suspend to Disk/S2D not working :(

I've had several Ubuntu versions running fine and able to suspend to disk without big issues (except needing to manually reactivate wireless in the latest version) but since I moved to LMDE, I cannot resume from hibernation any more. Triggering Sleep mode, my laptop seems to be going down for S2D su...

Ignoring file '*.list.save' errors after adding third party

Subject not being long enough to describe it in full: After adding an external / third party package source to the Package Sources, I find several errors like this: Ignoring file 'opera.list.save' in directory '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/' as it has an invalid filename extension Ignoring file 'dropbox....

Re: MintMenu needs TWO clicks after a fresh login?!

This has been posted before. The immediate work around until a permanent fix is found is to right click the menu icon, select Preferences, open the Options tab and set menu opacity to 100%. This seems to work for most users. Thanks Aging, I had searched for mintmenu in the Debian specific forum but...

[Solved] MintMenu needs TWO clicks after a fresh login?!

Hi, I noticed the weirdest thing: Each time I start my laptop and login, the first time I want to open the menu, I need to click it twice before it opens. After that, it will open immediately after the first click... Maybe it is not really "not opening" as it does show the drop shadow that should be...

Alternative (f)or Ubuntu's usb-creator in Mint Debian

Do with it what you want ;) The feauture I am talking about is provided by the packages usb-creator-common and usb-creator-gtk...
