Re: Release Date for Linux Mint 11 KDE

Thanks for the response Clem, though I do worry about a KDE when it comes bottom of the chain. I think gogogadget is right, maybe the team should focus on making one awesome edition instead of spreading the available resource too thin. I'd prefer to see Mint remain a success, even if that means KDE...

How to automount NTFS partitions under Flux?

Isadora Flux dualbooted with Windows XP (partitioned to C:\ and D:\). I`ve resized Windows data partition (D:\) yesterday, using Easeus partition master app for Windows. Everything went fine except one thing - when I boot into Fluxbox, system doesn`t mount Windows disks automatically (If I recall co...

Re: GNOME 3 by Linus Torvalds

That is what exactly Linus said: "Linus Torvalds - +Cyrill Gorcunov: it's not that I have rendering problems with gnome3 (although I do have those too), it's that the user experience of Gnome3 even without rendering problems is unacceptable. Why can't I have shortcuts on my desktop? Why can't I have...

Re: I hope so.............. to make

KDE + LMDE = PROFIT Of course it all depends on Boo and Clem for sure, but it seems to me that maintaining KDE "wing" of Mint would be dozens of times easier (faster, smarter;) for Boo than it`s now. As for me, I`d prefer to see all the editons - KDE, Gnome Main, Xfce, LXDE and Flux - are built unde...

Re: Katya partitioning. Suggestions

Separating /home is similar to separating C:\ and D:\ (or ANYLETTER:\) in Windows - if system breaks down your data is still secure. Sorta secure sometimes.
Anyhow, thanks for spending time on me, lmintnewb ;)

Re: Katya partitioning. Suggestions

Comp has 500 Gbs, but I can afford to myself 15Gb only for Katya. It gonna be set up as a spare system. It also gonna be splitted into / and /home for some reasons. So the question is, if after swapping there will still remain 11Gbs only for root and home, how should I share that space between `em c...

Katya partitioning. Suggestions

Need appeared to set up Katya Main 64-bit on a 15 Gb disk space only.
4Gb swap already reserved in mind. 11Gb remains.
Any suggestions about / and /home sizes?
Thanks in advance!

P.S. Suddenly! Current puter has 4Gb DDR2 RAM installed on. Maybe I should set up less swap?

Lancelot in MintKDE 11

What about one more dance with Lancelot in Mint KDE 11?
And what about KDE 11 itself?
I know Boo works alone on it, and mainating distro takes his personal time, - I`m just curious.
