Clem,
Why does this application ask for a root password only once during a session and then never again, regardless of how much time passes? Did you design it that way? (not complaining, just wondering.) Seems like root privileges should expire after say ten minutes.

I created a fantastic "Mint" icon theme for mintupdate. How can I upload this to here? You guys will love it once you see it! :-) If anyone messages me, I'll send them the icons.

Ah, that. That would be the avatar (or picture) used for your username. In Windows, these are set in Account Manager and are a butterfly, goldfish, frog, etc. Similar avatars exist in Linux Mint. The easiest way to set the picture for your username is to use Gnome's 'about me' applet. Unfortunately,...

Your installer is fantastic! I'm currently working on several variations of this theme. What exactly did you have in mind? Mint logo alone in the center? Smaller Linux Mint logo? Black, with back lighting (like Celena default wallpaper?) Give me some ideas.

Mintupdate 1.4 is working beautifully on my Celena system. This is sooo much nicer than the update system used on Ubuntu (and other Gnome based systems) I love the ratings system. Much friendlier for noobies (even though I'm an experienced Linux user.) I wouldn't be surprised if other distros "steal...

Linux Mint gnome-screen-savor Lock Theme

Hi guys! I created a beautiful 'locked screen' dialog for Linux Mint. It's in the style of Celena, but should work wonderfully on any recent version. I'm sorry I cannot post a screenshot (I can't take a proper screenshot of the locked screen and I don't have Linux Mint installed in a VM.) It's simpl...

Linux Mint, like Ubuntu is designed as a Workstation OS. It's user friendly and requires a minimum of fuss to setup and maintain. While its never been intended for bleeding edge or nonstop tinkering, many people enjoy doing just that with their PCs. After all, the best way to learn Linux is to break...

First, I must say that Beryl has (or should I say had, considering the project has recently remerged with Compiz) some of the worst documentation (or lack thereof) I've ever seen in an open source project. That being said, I can explain how to get the much coveted cube effect. First, you should ensu...

I also have a 1440x900 widescreen monitor and I've noticed that GDM doesn't always display properly. To fix that and to always ensure you're desktop doesn't extend beyond the boundaries of your monitor, modify the following lines: DefaultDepth 24 Option "metamodes" "1440x900 +0+0; 1280x960 +0+0; 115...

Thanks for the response Clem. I'll wait happily for Celena FINAL. So far, the beta seems to be working pretty well with just a few bugs (which others have already noted.) I got to hand it to you guys: Linux Mint is absolutely wonderful! It's like you've taken Ubuntu and fixed all the things that irr...

Possible to upgrade from Beta 017 to Beta 021?

Just installed B017 last week and love it! Wondered if upgrading to Celena B021 were possible via synaptic. Thanks!
