Heck, why not Linux Mint Windows Edition while we're at it? I mean, there's already a theme called "Redmond"....

Re: LMDE and XFCE edditions

LMDE = Debian base with Gnome XFCE = Debian base with XFCE The Linux Mint XFCE edition *used* to be based off the current Xubuntu release, but recently the project switched to being Debian based full time. As such, Mint XFCE no longer is identified by a version number, i.e. Mint 10 XFCE, to reflect ...

Re: Can not load mint 11 at all

Seeing as you said you re-installed Mint 10 recently, and assuming you haven't made any massive changes to the defaults, it would be possible to go into your Software Sources list and change the repositories that APT pulls packages from. You would change any "julia" sources to "katya&...

Re: Mint 11.10, oneiric, gnome desktop ugly?

Ubuntu 11.10 (and Mint 12) are going to use Gnome 3, with means GTK 3.

I imagine there are conflicts between your already installed GTK 2 themes and the GTK 3 libraries that got pulled in when you added a Gnome 3 repo.

Assuming you are using Firefox. Go to "Edit" then "Preferences" in the tool bar. Then add your home page in place of Mint.

Re: cannot install Katya...

Make sure your BIOS is set to enable booting from a disc. Put the live disc that you burned into your CD/DVD drive, restart your computer, boot into the disc, and once the desktop appears there will be an "Install" icon among the "Computer" "Home" and "Trash" ...

Re: Gnome3

I installed the Gnome 3 ppa over an install of Mint 11, played around with it for two days, and went back to the Gnome 2.32 desktop. There were a number of problems I had trying to do this conversion, and even when I thought I had it all sorted I had inconsistencies that I did not experience running...

Re: You can't deny that Mint 11 looks horribly dated now

It looks the same as Mint 10, which was released half a year ago and the default look of this distro is starting to really look its age. I know that the team hates Unity and wants to move to Gnome 3, but Gnome 3 looks worse and has less functionality than Unity. Can the Mint team at least try to em...

Re: I don't like the new square icons!

Julia used the Faenza icon set, and Katya's Mint-X icons are a variation on that. Both feature the flat, squared off icons.

Exactly which ones are you looking to revert to?

Re: Is this standard for latest LinuxMint version??

Four workspaces are enabled by default in Mint 11. You can access them by using the keyboard command "Control+Alt" and the arrow keys. You can also access workspaces by using the keyboard command "Super+S" if you have the Expo function enabled in Compiz. For mouse control, you ha...

Re: videos playing

Checking the repos, it's not there, but thankfully there is a PPA for it, so I added that to my sources and there it is. Will give it a look. Yeah, I was wrong, it's not a default app for Mint. It got brought along when I added the 'nautilus-elementary' packages, I didn't notice til I looked in Syn...

Re: Linux Mint 11 "Katya" released!

Is there a KDE release planned for each subsequent Mint version? If, so about how long until Mint 11 gets a KDE version? Yes, Mint releases a KDE spin based on the current Kubuntu. When does it release? When it is ready, like the Gnome version that follows on Ubuntu. There isn't a set time table fo...

Wow, quite a lot of ambitious plans for the Debian edition!

Thanks to everyone who contributes to the project; if your past efforts are any indication, your future goals for improved implementation and refinement will be extremely successful.

Kudos.

Re: Minimised Apps Dissapearing

Some apps do not minimize to the system tray, instead, they minimize to an icon in the notification area just to the left of the clock. Rhythmbox is the only app I use that does this, but I seem to remember reading that Pidgin does this and it is reasonable to assume that Skype does, too. Yes, Pidg...

Re: Add workspaces to Mint 11 Gnome?

I've been using Mint 11 RC since it's release, and upgraded to the final yesterday. There have been four virtual desktops enabled by default the entire time as far as I'm aware. Pressing "Control" and "Alt" and an arrow key should show them, and allow navigation. As for Desktop C...

Yes.

As you can tell from my signature line, I have a variety of distros installed, and after adding Mint 11 GRUB detected them all.
