Re: Open Source = Piracy.

I don't think too much of it, it is hardly newsworthy. :D A LOBBY GROUP is proposing this. There are also lobby groups trying to outlaw Toyotas, legalize heroin, Ban circumcision, and allow aliens free healthcare. No not people from other countries...OTHER PLANETS! So a handful of nutjobs think FOS...

Open Source = Piracy.

What do you think of this?

http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/arrrggg-o ... rates.html
US lobby group is trying to get the US government to consider open source as the equivalent to piracy i.e. if you use open source software you are a pirate and that makes you an enemy of the state.

Re: Resume from suspend problems

I'm having the same suspend issues, where my keyboard and USB mouse doesn't work (either does my touchpad), and my screen doesn't reactivate forcing me to have to hold my power button for 10 seconds to hard shutdown. What I can suggest is use Hibernate instead of Suspend mode, Hibernation seems to w...

Re: Why did you switch to linux mint?

I used to use Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, but now only use Linux Mint 8. One of the main reasons I switched, was because I had so many security programs running on Windows it was pathetic. I had Norton Internet Security, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, Spybot S&D and Tuneup Utilities. And out of all that, ...

Advanced Bootup Options?

In Windows there's an advanced options area where one can select how many processors / RAM the boot process can use (this speeds up boot time in Windows), was wondering if there was a similar feature in LM8?

Gateway ML6732

Running Linux Mint 8 x64 Edition, no noticeable problems that I have seen so far. Also runs Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit perfectly.

Re: UK Internet piracy plans

This is scary. If the UK gets this legislation passed, it could serve as a model for other countries to limit internet activity. As a matter of fact, I would expect The UK to actively promote the passage of similar legislation in other European countries and probably in the US as well since a lot o...

Anyone using Audacious?

Just a question for anyone using Audacious. Before I switched to Mint, I was using Windows 7 and Winamp. Winamp was only using less than 5kb of my bandwidth and was more heavy than this program, and Audacious on Mint is using near 30kb just to stream the same Shoutcast playlist. Anyone else noticing...
