Tried install (from synaptic) 'cups-pdf' (I use more than I use physical printer)(always install on sys) ...

Re: The unofficial LMDE Xfce UP6

Yes, I asked myself the same question. So, if you find out...please, tell me. Maybe the 64 bit because this is 1st mint ISO I think that has 'Multi-arch" by default(?) I had distro hopped on 2 debianish during time between rc and final ( ) they also seemed to boot faster than the norm (fo...

Re: Is there a Good DEBIAN BASED DISTRO?

BBQ was great
But
for some reason didn't like my printer (HP C5140 networked) most distro out of box (even debian testing) and HPLIP GUI also failed :(
Thought may be edition (nope tried same result other BBQ flavors.
Forums wouldn't let me in to search and couldn't register either. :(

Re: How stable is LMDE?

LMDE is a really stable distro. I have used it for months and I didn't have any problems. However, some people (like myself) might find LMDE too stable, and move to other distros that provide their users with more frequent updates. Yep... or source list direct to testing or sid (although not latter...

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

Thanks for everyone's input about mirrors and merits of testing/sid/wheezy stating Upack ect. (I feel so much more enlightened now) As a side note on mirrors even though in Arkansas (USA) I have better luck (when downloading distro) using a U of Canada mirror (if available ,Mints does)! :l...

Re: Different background for each workspace?

Sorry if my (bad) spelling caused you loss time. One thing (complaint) is speed of redraw. Redraws as if changed wallpaper manually just automated (and checks the desktop #). Gnomes even slower  Maybe getting the pics in memory (temp?) may speedup? seems speedier on 2nd and subsequent ...

Don't happen to me BUT a uninstall nautilus 1st thing on install. Hate to see Xfce get a Bum wrap because nautilus was installed...

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

Wrong place again (if so move) Going to reinstall 64bit RC (better for me I have 8GBs mem  ) think going to stay with Upacks. Might try switching to direct testing (or sid) in future. QUESTION... when would be best time to switch? My UN educated guess would be after the Upack thats after freez...

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

no :D you are not doing nothing wrong, the app is working as intended: if it finds debian.org in the sources.list it skips the mirror check. it's only useful (and a lot) with the mint mirrored repos. Thank you (again)ZZero J.Jay P.S. Now, to clarify the status: I've solved the wicd configuration: a...
