Re: Different background for each workspace?

That was great coding (way out of my league) BUT I think thats how 'walpapos' does it. I think you can still find on web(?). If find you may want to incorporate their code. It has a GUI for picking backgrounds ect, a daemon does the actual work. J.Jay P.S. I'll see if can find a link (I have The .6....

Re: Not shutting down.

sudo shutdown now Yes I believe you need sudo rights to do a shutdown or reboot. A regular user needs to log-off first and then shutdown/reboot in the greeter. Easiest way is to give the user sudo rights. (but may have security risks.) Also I believe the new 4.10Xfce log-out properties (on right cl...

Re: LM13 Xfce loses window manager periodically

Great tip reinstall xfwm4; keep us informed if everything is working well. yep thats the way to do it. (not really reinstall its their just not the running WM anymore). :( BUT unless uninstall Nautilus and data (might) keeps happening . If uninstall (watch what also goes (and install alternative if...

Re: How stable is LMDE?

[quote]I run on several laptops aftermarket LXDE on LMDE since Update 4. Updates 5 and 6 went well - only change that I noticed was the replacement of abiword-gnumeric with libre-office. Upgrade-system works great for cleaning out the orphans. Now that Mint won't be issuing any more updates for LMDE...

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

can 'unetbootin' replace 'image writer' It (at least for me) makes a USB Startuper (is that a word?) perfect, but Gparted (unless in a live environment) complains about a recursive file system if want to reuse as (format) just as a storage pendrive. edit** Also can 'BUM' replace setting>services. Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

Alacarte revisited Seem alacarte is working a lot better. But if you put a item in the top menu (one main menu button shows) the categories/itiems and such are rearraigned (example terminal and web browser moves from to top of menu to bottom). categories before single launchers(?) Can't remember if ...

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

J.J. now MU-debian is a good tool (performs dist-upgrades, has no problems with replaces, gives the necessary info about removals and additions); can be safely used in any branch of lmde; but if you prefer more verbose and greater control than ofc there's nothing like the terminal 8) Ohh Thank You ...

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

This way a very good copy can be made without the person that built the thing having to use expensive band width for an iso. If look at site that's in esence what he did for KDE (for the people already have a LMDE install) The Xfce in theory should be lighter and you don't want to attach it to some...

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

If this wrong place... Advise me where to go  (doesn't sound right) On 64 Bit 'Unofficial LMDE-Xfce RC' have changes sources to track Testing directly. (Loved Sparky-Linux, I believe they were) but like Mint extras (+no having to install Xfce and it only 4.8 also) 1) you should not use 'Mint Up...

Re: How stable is LMDE?

Doesn't have a LXDE version as far as I know! :?

Has done the KDE one for awhile now (almost year I think)

He Just started the XFCE one soon after Mint (Clem) announced they're dropping (official) support of LMDE-Xfce (including no UPack6 ISO for)

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

I'm not knowledgeable on this stuff BUT if their local can you give them a bogus version number(?) then when the 4.10 actually hits testing they don't auto upgrade with Upack, and can test then and upgrade (or not) or someone write (not me  ) a package (meta) that will? Maybe stupid question J...

Re: How stable is LMDE?

May just have to look at this "fork" of LMDE and see what I think of his take on Lxde. lxde  :P Not really a fork just a continuation for LMDE-Xfce now that Mint (Clem/Team) are stoping full official support of the Xfce LMDE spin. (no Upack 6 ISO planed for) Its still based on LMDE (besides ge...
