Authentication failure

Here's a bit of insanity for today. I just installed LMDE on SDA4 of Wifeys machine, along side Julia.I used the same user/password names. Installed, rebooted into LMDE and went to set the network settings. I got them set, clicked OK, it asks for the password, then I get authentication failure over ...

Re: HOWTO: Installing Google Chrome in LMDE

It seems too much complicated for new user of LMDE. Why doesn't it make easy-open,click, done! This headache makes me give up LMDE. Installation of new software isn't easy like other version of linux. Virtual box also didn't work when I installed as soon as LMDE is out. It is not cup of tea for new...

Re: Forgot password

Reinstall, and write down the password you enter. This is one of the problems with automatic logins. I never, ever use automatic login, partly because of this, but mostly because of security concerns. If someone steals my laptop, and it's set to automatic login, they can use it as they like. If it ...

Re: cannot restore backup

I just did the recommended method for upgrading from Mint 9 to 10. I used the backup tool to backup my home folder to a tar.gz file and when I try to restore it the backup tool says it's 'calculating...' forever. I let it go for two hours and nothing was happening. So I tried to open the tar.gz fil...

Re: Booting / Keyboard not found ( SOLVED)

Nice call !
The keyboard is one of the new Logitech with the illuminated keys. It's a fantastic keyboard.
The problem was that my HP 4660 all in one is always powered on.If I turn it off, re-boot and turn it on after the box is fully booted the keyboard "boots" fine.
Thanks !

Booting / Keyboard not found(SOLVED)

Here's a strange one. LM10. Boots up fine with a PS2 keyboard and then I can unplug it, plug in my USB keyboard and carry on normally. Hit reboot, starts to boot goes into the American megatrends screen and tells me keyboard not found. Hit F1 to ignore etc. Obviously I cant hit F1 if the keyboard is...
