Re: Doing all the right things but not getting W10 showing in install
Greetings, I've been wanting to install Mint 20.1 Ulyssa for some time now on my desktop PC. I want it to be a dual boot system with Windows 10. Ulyana is the existing Linux installation and when I proceeded to install Ulyssa, the installer doesn't show Windows 10, but it does show Ulyana. I looked...

Re: Upgraded from 18.3 to 19, fails to login.
There was a recent Mesa update with Mint 18.3. When I ran the upgrade check, I was informed that the newer package would cause serious breakage if an attempt to update to Mint 19 was performed and to wait for a fixed package (or revert).

Re: Unable to boot into Linux Mint 19 64-Bit With EasyBCD 2.3 (Dual Boot Setup Windows 10 )
I never could get easyBCD to work well in a dual boot environment with Windows and Linux. The one and only time I attempted to use it to manage a dual boot configuration resulted in the loss of the entire drive with years of data lost (yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.. No fresh backups before fiddling with...

Re: Update issues Mint 18.2 Cinnamon
Hmmm. We'll see how that goes. I'm running a RX460 and wanted to take advantage of the AMD offerings for their proprietary drivers.
Edited --
Again, I have no PPAs selected. The AMD driver setting is under additional repositories, not PPA.

Re: The direction I dream for Linux
... all this does not change the fact that Linux has grown enough and there are plenty of distributions. ... You just do not get it. There are way TOO many distros, DEs, package managers, APIs, etc. And little stability or backwards (or forwards) compatibility. That is why, largely, not many want t...

Noticing the same behavior after the updates this morning. Right mouseclick on desktop provides a different menu now, where as before one could update/change the desktop backgrounds. This is no longer possible.

Changing bluetooth download destination
Although I use it rarely, it is rather handy to do a quick bluetooth transfer from the phone to the notebook. However, the default destination directory (/Downloads) tends to be rather cluttered at times and only gets cleaned out a couple of times a year. I'd like to change this to a different locat...

Kudos on a great OS
I swapped out the internal wifi card in my notebook with an Intel AC 7260. Took me 30 minutes of fiddling to get the drivers to install properly in Winderz. Fired up Mint and it detected the new card upon bootup and was off to the races without a single issue. A job well done on an excellent OS. It ...

Re: Wifi stops working after a while
How far away from the router are you? If you move closer for a better signal strength, do you still experience the connection issue?

Re: For those of you that use 802.11ac with internal mini PC
Went ahead and pulled the trigger on the 7260. With the existing connection speed combined with router, the 5GHz band is sufficient with the 2 data streams.
Thanks y'all.

For those of you that use 802.11ac with internal mini PCI-E
Which make/model card do you have installed and what are your impressions with network stability and speed? I'm planning on replacing the existing 802.11n card in my notebook with one that supports 802.11ac and am leaning towards the Intel line of wireless cards. But before I source a final solution...

Re: Booting from a external HDD (w/o dualboot!)
When I had my Toshiba notebook, I ran Linux off the external drive. I set the boot order in the BIOS to check for the external first and if it was plugged in, to boot from it. You can set the delay in Grub to 1 second on sdb and it will pretty much seem as it's an auto boot.

I'm happy to say that the instructions posted by chili555 for installing via git works perfectly in Mint 17.1.
It appears ASUS still hasn't fixed their provided driver that comes on the disc. Installing from git had me up and running in minutes.

Re: Install Mint 17 over OpenSUSE, keeping Win7 dual boot
You shouldn't have any issues installing Mint to the partition that SUSE currently occupies. And yes, GRUB will probe your drive during the installation process and include Windows as a boot option.

Re: Installing Mint to a second Hard Drive
It depends on how you set everything up. My notebook has two hard drives. sda contains Windows and sdb contains my linux distributions. I use the escape key to get the default boot menu for the notebook and select the drive I wish to use at the time. You can, however, install Mint to the second driv...

Gparted should allow you to resize partitions without data loss.
Here's a quick tutorial on how to do it.
