Re: stamp collecting and IT-computer pioneers/ new IT stamps

And here is the image of a Soviet stamp, showing the combination of punched cards used as recording medium in early digital computers together with a more "modern" model-but remember this stamp was issued in 1986! still hope it can reflect the historical development!

Re: Games on Mint- what are you playing?

do you know any good simulation games for Linux? normally I prefer Grand strategy like hearts of Iron 2 /(which, according to wine also runs, but unfortunately not the version I prefer- Total realism mod).

Games on Mint- what are you playing?

Personally I was able to install (and therefore to play) two games,Battlefield 1942 (with punkbuster, online) and Call of Duty 2 but I m trying out further. I may add that I am using an older notebook,...

Re: How did you get your Mint?

I got my first edition of Mint together with a DVD that came together with an Linux magazine. Actually I was interested in the articles and Ubuntu and started with Kubuntu 9.04 which I already knew from my netbook. After running Kubuntu on my laptop for a few weeks I decided to upgrade to version 10...

Re: WINE, punkbuster and more importantly BFBC2

Hi, I don't know if that helps you, but I was able to install, run and play battlefield 1942 (patch 1.6) with wine on Mint Helena 8 with nearly no problems. As I play online I did install also punkbuster under wine and until now had absolutely no problems. I may add that I am using an older notebook...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Hey all, actually I just loaded up Mint Helena 8 on my Netbook (Acer Aspire one ZG5) and it runs smoothless. Compared to Ubuntu netbook edition 9.04 I just have to add that the booting process takes a longer time, but besides that everything looks fine. Mint seems to adapt itself to the system. Plea...
