Re: Linux Mint 9 boots very slow

I installed Linux Mint 9 on a PC with the following specifications: 3.06 GhZ Celeron CPU, 1 GB RAM, OnBoard Graphics and 20 GB HDD (very old). I switched off the ACPI function in the BIOS, because otherwise Linux doesn't boot. First on startup I see those points changing their color from green to w...

Re: Usb pendrive automount readonly

Hi. I am having an issue with pendrive and sd-card automounting (the first on plugin) readonly mode. I am trying to find a way to remount through CLI, rather than altering fstab, though if this is necessary, so be it. fstab follows: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid -o va...

Re: Mint 9 and ATI

Last night I decided to install Mint 9 on my old desktop PC, which is a P4 2.667 with 512 mb RAM and and an old AGP ATI All-in-Wonder 9800 pro video card with 128mb. I did a fresh install and everything was fine. However, right after I did the many updates (levels 1-3), what was a perfect display w...

This happens on both my laptop and desktop with Linux Mint 9 x64 (note this also happened with ubuntu 10.04 32 and 64 bit) Laptop is Inspiron 1525 Desktop Asus P5N-D for the mobo and a Lite-On DVD-RW optical drive. Re: Partition Mess...

Hi I had installed kubuntu, to see how it is like... and I dont like it so I removed the partition. The bad thing is, that kubuntu has installed its own grub over the old good one, and I see only something like "Device could not be found: xxx-xxx-... \n grub rescue> ".(Grrr...!) Re: Can't boot to installed Linux Mint or install from LiveC

thanks again, oobetimer. Sorry, but I am new to Linux and not familiar with how one changes the boot order. When the PC is starting-up, push some button (Esc, F1, F2, F10, F11, F12, Del ... ) The PC´s manual tells what is the right button.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BIOS http://www.hiren.info/pa...

I'm not sure I'll be able to fix or make an xorg.conf file as you suggest because
when I try to boot with the LiveCD in the drive goes directly to the grub prompt on the laptop.
Your cdrom are not bootable. You have change the boot order ..

Re: Multi-boot Win 7/Ubuntu 10.04/Mint

Noob question here regarding installation. I have a Toshiba netbook that I am currently dual-booting Win 7 Pro/Ubuntu 10.04 UNE. The Win 7 install occupies the majority of the hard disc, and I partitioned off a 10gb chunk for UNE. Right now, Grub loads perfectly. I've been checking out Mint for a w...

Re: Can't boot to installed Linux Mint or install from LiveC

All the following pertains to my Toshiba laptop which has been running Linux Mint for several weeks: I messed up my monitor settings so now when I boot I just get the "grub>" command line prompt. I tried to reboot with the Linux Mint LiveCD (Isadora) but it still reverts to the grub prompt. Can any...

Re: Problem during Boot (initramfs)

Do you mean use ImgBurn to copy my [ linuxmint-9-gnome-cd-i386.iso ] image to my CD-R, because i did that and what is Brasero, if you don't mind me asking? I mean that burning has failed. Also Mint 9 iso.image isn´t so stable - there is some problems with isolinux. Grub is more stable than isolinux...
