Re: How to uninstall Mint 9

Alright, so I used the live cd to install Mint 9 using the side-by-side installation (dual boot of Vista and Mint). Now I want to uninstall Mint, but I have searched these forums and on Google, but I can't find anything that tells me how to uninstall Mint. All I want to do is uninstall Mint and hav...

Re: Isadora booting on terminal

Hello Everyone, this is my first post and i'm very new to linux. I searched for this but couldn't find anywhere, so i'm asking here. Let me explain the whole thing: I have 2 PCs, both very good in config. 1 has windows 7 and the other 1 has Mint 9 Isadora (only 1 OS per machine). On my windows 7, i...

Re: USB drives & DVD in drive not recognized

Hi All. I just installed Mint 9 & I noticed no USB flash drives or even a DVD in the DVD drive are recognized. Is there some setting I missed? This worked fine for me in 7 & 8. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=49487 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=49158&p=284871#p28...

Re: AHH, /home partition nuked!

Thanks for the pointers. I found testdisk, but the 'Undelete' option seems to be messing. I think its because the partition is ext4 and testdisk only does ext2 (and ntfs I noticed). Photorec doesn't seem to see anything on the partition either. I have tried to get testdisk to make an image but my e...

Re: Every package shows as "cannot be authenticated"

Clean install of Mint 9 amd64 with default repositories. When I check the authentication tab in Software Sources the keys for Ubuntu, Mint, and Medibuntu are there, but *every* package I install, no matter from which repository, produces "WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!". Re: AHH, /home partition nuked!

Hi, I just installed Mint 9 x86. I installed it over my current Ubuntu install. My HD was laid out like this: /boot /windows / /home I told the installer to format / and then set the mount points for /boot and /home (without the format option!!) Mint installs great everything looks good, but now my...

Re: Windows 7 does not appear on Grub menu (triple boot)

Hey guys, I've triple booted Windows 7, Windows XP, and Linux Mint 9. I can boot to Windows XP, and Mint with no problems, but there's no Windows 7 option in the boot menu. How can I get Windows 7 to show up so that I could boot to it? I tried sudo update-grub, but Windows 7 didn't show up. Your he...

Re: Upgrading to Mint 9 without touching /home partition

Just need some clarification here and I can't find the answer easily. I have Mint 7, and want to install 9 without it touching my separate /home partition. I have got it backed up, but it would be easier if the installer just didn't touch it. My cheap NAS box is very slow anyway, and it will take a...

Re: Add support for localized Ubuntu repositories

Please, for god sake :( I'm not a "novice" in Linux's world, I begun with Slackware, so I'm used to edit text documents and change everything in the system to get what I want. But, with Ubuntu, even when I start it from a USB key and don't have the option to change the language and, so, the mirror'...

Re: Update and software manager freeze

This is my second installation of Mint 64 bitdue to terrible freeze ups that persist. Just about everything does and I can't even get the first updates without it turning dark and freezing. I've tried both ext4 and now ext3 which is supposed to be smoother according to Ubuntu 10.04 documentation. M...
