Re: Kernels

Aging Technogeek, I much appreciate your help but rather than trying to fix something that was giving me grief (of my own making) I decided to go for a reinstall. End of problem(s). This machine was running on a dual system but when I first installed LMDE the other Linux distro would not open (not s...

Re: Kernels

Did you recently install updates including levels 4 and 5 in Update Manager? Or install updates using apt-get upgrade in terminal? Probably, messing about...familiarizing myself with LMDE, still am! Kernel version 2.6.32.25 is the latest version available from the repositories. It is perfectly okay...

Kernels [SOLVED]

I am running kernel 2.6.32-21-generic but on startup another kernel version has appeared out of the blue, version 2.6.32-25-generic. Why is this? How can I remove it?

Re: System clean

We have certainly deviated from my query...!

Tweak, not Ubuntu Tweak, is a "hex editor" (available in synaptic) and not a cleanup app.

Thanks proxima_centauri but can you be more specific? Is it in the LMDE repository and what's the name?

Re: Bleachbit bug?

Disk Usage Analyzer shows /=100% This is simply the total % of all the subfolders, it says at the top you have 14GB free. Are you sure the message was referring to the root drive and not to an attached one? No attached drive. I don't understand the warning. The option to Ignore is what I have chose...

Bleachbit bug? [SOLVED]

After a successful system clean (standard and root) it tells me that the hard disk is full and yet System Monitor says that I have 13.1GB free. :? Disk Usage Analyzer shows /=100%. Any ideas?

Re: Convert to another format

You don't run Imagemagick per se as a GUI app. As Leit said earlier, from a command line you type: convert inputfile.png outputfile.jpg You could either put the entire path in or you could just open terminal in the folder where you input file is. It's really that easy. For more examples, google &qu...

Re: Convert to another format

try sudo apt-get install imagemagick than you should be able to use convert inputfile.png outputfile.gif (or something) in the Terminal ~Leit I have imagemagick installed but can't find it anywhere. BTW, I am a GUI guy. Thanks for helping Leit. Edit. When I right click a png file it doesn't give me...

Re: No sound

Guys, I think I've nailed it. It's definitely a kernel issue and I am not the only one from what I read elsewhere. Prior to kernel 2.6.28 audio works on this Samsung Q1 Tablet PC. Any kernels from 2.6.28 onwards will not recognize my sound card and therefore won't play sound no matter what. I've pro...

Installed Mint9 on Samsung Q1 Tablet PC 2005 Edition and running smoothly except no audio. Any ideas? Please help. TIA
I should add that other distros are not affected, namely Mandriva 2009.1, PCLOS 2009.1, OpenSuse, all pre 2010 versions.
