Re: Ubuntu 13.04 over W8

Many thanks ofb. The thing is that even the DVD that I used to install 13.04 over W8 will no longer boot. I have also tried other disks and none are recognized since yesterday's install with 13.04 over W8. I have even downloaded and burnt the latest distros from both LM and Ubu and none work on the ...

Re: Epson XP-405 driver

I have just found out that scanning with the Epson XP-405 is possible with LM15. Can anyone help me to be able to scan with LM13 LTS which is my main distro? Thanks.

Re: Differences between distros

What you should do is reading the release notes of all the versions released after Mint 13 and compare those with each other. This will clarify the differences. Nomko, your reply reminds me of a guy asking for directions in busy NY and told to buy himself a street map. Thanks for coming in anyway. ...

Re: Differences between distros

For the naked eye there are not any changes and that's true but if you look under the hood then you will see the real difference. ;) But in my opinion you should wait for Mint 17 which will be LTS too. Thanks RacertBG, I will certainly wait for LM17 which I didn't know is going to be LTS. Good news.

Differences between distros

I am running 32-bit LM13 Maya LTS and out of curiosity I have tried LM14, LM15 and LM16. Where are the improvements? I fail to see any significant changes that would make me want to ditch Maya, but perhaps some of you could enlighten me. I would sincerely appreciate it.

Repository error (SOLVED)

When updating and for the last couple of months I have been getting a repository error on both LM13 and LM14 which doesn't seem to affect LM15. Below are the results of 3 commands which hopefully will enable one of you to explain what has happened and help me to fix it. Thanks. bash: /usr/bin/mint-f...

Re: Update is incomplete

Hello, Riki. File /etc/default/grub holds an unmatched double quote. Double quotes must come in pairs. The first one marks the beginning of a text string, the second one marks its end. If one of the two is missing, the commandline parser gets nuts. Anyway. The offending line is this one GRUB_CMDLIN...

Re: Update is incomplete

Hello, Riki. The "sudo apt-get update" output looks pretty normal. May we learn why the "sudo apt-get upgrade" ends with the question Do you want to continue [Y/n]? May we assume that the question has been answered with "n" (no)? Yes, I answered with "n" This would be a pity because it woudl have b...

Re: Update is incomplete

Hello, riki. In order to get any helpful replies it might have been smarter to post a screenshot which is not so hard to read. More importantly it would have been helpful to give a few technical details about your Mint 13 system. As one of the error messages in the screenshot talks about multiarch b...

Re: Lost sound (SOLVED)

Found the reason. Device had changed (not my doing) to HDA NVidia (Alsa mixer). I changed back to Built-in Audio Analogue Stereo (PulseAudio mixer) and bingo sound is restored. My thanks to all those who have tried to help me.
