Re: Having problems with connecting usb to HP laptop

IMHO I would ditch Mint 13 which is now not supported and install 17.1. This will give you a more up-to-date kernel which hopefully will support your usb attachments better. When you do a new install I always suggest three partitions, root, swap and home. Using this setup makes upgrading much simple...

Re: System not unstable, but I'm noticing problems

There may be two or three different problems here. Are you aware of the Chromium problems http://askubuntu.com/questions/449103/chromium-34-and-later-cannot-detect-flash-plugin and also the changes in tweetdeck accounts http://thenextweb.com/twitter/2015/03/04/tweetdeck-accounts-are-being-scrapped-o...

Re: can receive but not send emails

Not sure where you are in the world, but all UK ISPs give the settings to send and receive emails on their websites, so firstly go to your iSP website and search for mail settings and then enter these into the account settings in your email software.

Re: Mint 17.1 partially installed?

Sorry do you mean that the drive is empty. If so I suggest that you reinstall Mint again but before doing so it may be worth considering using three partitions not the default two. A partition for the system (root). a swap partition and a separate data partition (home). This makes updating to the ne...

Re: Mint 17.1 partially installed?

If you check your bios and the machine is set to boot from usb first and harddrive second then there may be a problem with grub.

Boot again from your USB stick and then follow this tutorial:

Re: burning installation disk zipped file

The download file should be an .iso file. Does Sonic have the capability to burn as an image, otherwise download the following which will definitely burn an iso file.

Re: ink/toner levels...

No that is the problem I have had with Mtink. It does not display my Machine on the list. If you open synaptic and download the other file I mentioned escputil and in a terminal enter sudo escputil --ink-level --raw-device /dev/usb/lp0 it will show the percentages of ink. This assumes the printer is...
