Re: No sound through HDMI..

Unfortunately, the result was even worst. After I added that line not even the built in audio devices showed up.

Any other ideas?

Re: No sound through HDMI..

Was there ever a solution for this? I am having what seems to be exactly the same problem: Multiboot HDMI works on Mint 18.3 (and has worked in every version for years) No HDMI device in the System Audio settings If I run the Pulse Audio Volume Control, I can see the the HDMI port but "unplugged" If...

Re: LMDE ALSA bug

Did you find a way to restore the alsa settings on boot?

I don't mind remembering to do it myself but I think it is too much to ask from other people that also use this computer.

How to Guide - Realtek RTL8111/8168B

NOTE: I created this instructions under Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) updated as of September 5, 2011. This instructions should work for other editions but I haven't tested them. If you have a Realtek RTL8111/8168B, you may notice that the network connectivity is choppy. This instructions are der...

Re: Unresponsive firefox 5 stops for a few sec and then resp

Probably you figured it out by now, but you are using the network driver "r8169". If you open a terminal and execute "dmesg", most probably you will see something like the following: [ 80.040135] r8169 0000:06:00.0: eth0: link up [ 80.492147] r8169 0000:06:00.0: eth0: link up [ 82.012104] net_rateli...

For what I saw, that link only works for grub, not for grub2 used by default by Mint 9.

What Mint are you using? Do you know what grub are you using?

Re: How to prevent a service to start at boot?

Hey, I found the answer! http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?s=4fd1ffbc998892ae86f30185996456f3&p=8476712&postcount=4 just add "never" to the list of prerequisites in the corresponding configuration file under /etc/init For example, for mythtv-backend start on (never and local-filesystems and net-d...

How to prevent a service to start at boot? [SOLVED]

The full subject should be: How to prevent a service to start at boot but still be able to start/stop/restart using the init configurations. I am using Mint 9 Isadora. I want mysql and mythtv-backend to start on command and not at boot-up. What I think I know: - "Startup Applications" are just for d...

Re: lost graphical boot and can' t make it comeback

I tried to apply the instructions that I found on the tutorial of mint community website and also this http://www.sucka.net/2010/03/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lynx/ I also have an nvidia card and my bootsplash stopped showing OK when I installed the proprietary drivers.
