Re: Replacing GIMP

I think removing GIMP from the default install of Mint is a bad idea. First off, many n00bs to Mint will want some substitute for Photoshop and may not already know about GIMP. Try typing "photoshop" into Synaptic or Software Manager. GIMP won't show up in the list, that's for sure. GIMP i...

Re: Resize windows with windows borders must be more easily

This would be a good idea. Especially for Firefox, which is the biggest pain for me. I've just had to get used to going to the bottom-right corner each time, but we shouldn't have to do that.

Backup Tool should backup sources.list

I know it's already easy to backup sources.list on your own, but seriously, why not add the option to back it up in the Backup Tool? Makes sense to me, since it would make it easier to recover software from the software list without any issues.

Re: Need replacement for indicator applet volume control

Well after much hunting, I finally came across a way to get back my volume controls. Anyone who wants to get rid of Pulseaudio but keep the audio controls should look here: https://launchpad.net/~dtl131/+archive/ppa Seems kind of ridiculous to me that I had to hunt for a random forum post just to ge...

Re: Need replacement for indicator applet volume control

I guess you are partly right and partly wrong: right that there used to be a volume control applet that didn't depend on PulseAudio, but possibly wrong in thinking that it is still available today. I say 'possibly' as of course I couldn't swear to it. Another possibility is that the bits of PulseAu...

Re: Need replacement for indicator applet volume control

As far as I know, the only available panel applet is the one that needs PulseAudio, so you may have to give up on that option. I use the ALSA mixer to control volume; the command-line version (alsamixer) gives the most precise control, or there are also several GUI front-ends available via the pack...

Need replacement for indicator applet volume control

So after struggling for days trying to get Pulseaudio to not cause the sound in flash movies to lag, I decided to dump Pulseaudio all-together. It sounds like a good idea, but it also seems like it mucks up tons of things. Frankly, if I can't properly watch stuff in Firefox, then I might as well hav...
