Re: How do I download my free movie from pny.com?

Get virtualbox, install windows in it, then install silverlight in the virtual windows, and watch it that way.

Re: No sound except in Audacity

It's an inherent flaw in Audacity that has been around for years now but the Audacity devs openly don't give a flying crap. I doubt you're going to find an answer to your problem because I've been trying to figure out how to get Audacity to play nicely with PulseAudio and it just won't work. This co...

Re: This is a sad day ...

I've used both Firefox and Chrome and I honestly can't see how one is better than the other. Both seem to take up a large amount of RAM, and now with Firefox 4 they both seem just as fast. Maybe I'm making a sweeping judgment, but Chrome seems to have become popular through bandwagon movement. The o...

Re: why every 6 months?

I almost never bother upgrading my version of Linux. Last time I did that was years ago when I upgraded from Ubuntu Gutsy to Hardy, and that nearly bricked my system. Sure, I can wipe everything and start over with Linux Mint, but that's too much of a hassle for such little benefit. And I know that ...

I still like Firefox 4. Too many add-ons for Chromium are incomplete or don't work at all.

That's cool, sidneyk! Too bad I don't use AWN anymore, but I was the one who originally asked the question a while ago so that's great you found a way.

Re: 1080p and linux

Hello again. Ok Have try'ed not only update the vlc player, but actually upgraded to mint 10 x64 bit. And absolutely no difference. The video performance of full HD 1080p video is absolutely horrible :( As well with other players. I'm not sure about the intel video cards on linux. But since I had e...

Actually, if your linux is 32 bit, you could try installing flash 10.3 beta and see if that works better.

Re: Skype Sound Still Not Configurable Due to Pulse !

I can understand your feelings about the Pluseaudio(although honestly, couldn't you just change the input volume in the volume control?). But I don't know what's wrong with your cam issue, because my Skype has a dropdown that lets me select my logitech cam or webcamstudio.

Re: Where's my Flash video??

It's most likely a problem with Flash. Adobe's development of Flash for Linux has been very lazy and there are still some bugs with some websites. You could try switching between earlier versions of Flash 10 and see if one of them works.

Re: 1080p and linux

OK. I have done some research now. And found some interesting information. Some sites claim that there is no video player in linux that can use multiple CPU cores. Is that really true?? If so - then it is a serious drawback in linux, because multi core technology is there for over 8...

Readyboost is worthless. Show me a case where readyboost would make a noticeable difference, and I'll vote yes.

Re: How to use your Firefox 4 cache like you did in Firefox

It's not just about the videos on youtube. I've found sites whose videos couldn't be downloaded with the any application, yet the vid was present in the cache. Not just videos, this method can be used to download flash games (swf) and other non flv animations/videos. Thanks to Mozenrath for the wor...

I agree. Sometimes I accidentally click on it.

This could be easily fixed on the user-end with a few lines of Greasemonkey javascript.

I've ALWAYS hated this! The mint menu is great, but that one bug is annoying and sort of gives the sense that mint menu isn't complete.

Re: How to use your Firefox 4 cache like you did in Firefox

Yeah, there are plugins that work great. But the problem with those is that they're made to be site-specific. There are ones that will work for a variety of sites, but sometimes there are sites that the firefox plugins aren't compatible with. With the cache, unless the video is streaming(as opposed ...

Re: How to use your Firefox 4 cache like you did in Firefox

Why not just get an application to record and save it ? Just curious why you'd have to mess around with a browser cache at all, shrugs. Zero doubt there's tons of applications for linux to record/save any media you wanted. Don't know of any offhand, but summin tells me google will. What do you mean...

How to use your Firefox 4 cache like you did in Firefox 3

In Firefox 3, my favorite way to save videos from websites was to wait for the video to load and copy it from the Firefox cache folder. Well the folks at Mozilla, with good intentions, have mucked up the cache folder in Firefox 4. The cache files are new split up into several folders, making it impr...

Re: an "Aero Glass" theme and a Sync center for WinMo phones

The aero theme would have to be enabled using Emerald. Since GNOME 3 will be exclusively using Compiz as a window manager(no metacity or mutter), we should wait to see what our options are. I don't think we should clone the aero glass from windows, but rather we come up with our own unique window fx...

I use Banshee. I forget why, but for some reason I chose it over Rhythmbox. Version 1.9.3 works very well.
