There is a free version of ukuu called mainline.

Sounds like you have a ryzen 4500/4700 laptop. Some people have gotten them to work with kernel 5.7 and newer mesa graphics

Re: Weird graphics output after update

i'll say it again if you use Linux Mint there is timeshift in your menu. use it to go back before the update and wait until next kernel. but really no need to update kernel if your system is working. Is there a difference between using timeshift and (manually) booting from an older kernel? Yes. Tim...

Re: How do I repair messed up MBR's

There is no easy way to do this. Fixing the windows bootloader is an easier trick. Create an XP system rescue disc. Disconnect the E drive physically from the motherboard. Boot from the rescue disc and let it fix the bootloader. To fix the mint loader is a bit tougher but we can try the same trick. ...

Re: Games on Linux lags. Windows smooth.

KSP is kerbal space program? Dont they recommend a 1gb VRAM card? Try downgrading the texture and graphic settings and turn off anti-aliasing. Also, I think KSPs Linux version may be an ugly implementation. You can actually force steam to play the windows version with proton compatibility layer. FWI...

Re: Was Ulyana released before it was ready?

Usually, ubuntu does not allow their LTS users to upgrade to the next LTS release until .1 point release is out. That's usually 4 months after the April release.

That should give you an indication of what they think of their own stability!

Re: Installing Mint 20 on computer with two drives

It's working in the sense I have no grub menu, it goes right to Mint, and I have to use the boot override in BIOS to boot from the SSD to get into Windows. Can I convert windows to UEFI? Or is there a way to turn the HDD from UEFI into the other one? I don't even remember there being an option for ...

Re: Upgrade Xubuntu or migrate to Mint

Thanks for all the replies :-) Regarding upgrade Xubuntu vs migrate to LM, if I go in to the "Software Updater", it gives me the option of upgrading Xubuntu versions so I can do that without having to reinstall anything whereas I can't see an obvious way to install LM without having to do a fresh i...

Maybe the thing to do will be to install Cinnamon (that sounds like the most appropriate of the three for me) and also try out a KDE VM, to get the whole vista on it all.
Don't compare KDE to Vista!

Re: Beginner + Minecraft installation where to

The mint software manager offer some basic games. Do not use the Minecraft launcher in the software manager as it has limited functionality.

Get the .Deb file directly from Mojang web site.

I have no idea how I managed to get a UEFI Mint install so I suppose I should wipe everything and start over. Thanks for the help, hopefully I'll get it right with another try.
Is working or not? UEFI installs are easier to troubleshoot in the long run.
