Re: LMDE (gnome and xfce) new isos up for testing

There's always bugs with Mint! Mint sucks! I can't even get a printer driver installed. Great work! I guess Clem needs his money from the Mint modification to Google Search! Selecting previously deselected package splix. (Reading database ... 85%dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting: failed to r...

Re: Mint Debian Fail

Fail is the right word. I have a Mint LMDE 10 iso on a usb stick and lots of issues if I want to try it out. It seems that new bugs are with the newer edition? I don't think the Mint ppl know what they're doing. I'm tired of the graphics, too, with the console. There's no option to shut that off. Th...

Re: Mint 11 LXDE

Total failure... I guess this is another distro with a horrible LXDE edition. Or rather I suppose that you personally don't enjoy it. The term "horrilble" is quite subjective. You're perfectly welcome to not like it, however it does strike me as silly that simply because you don't like it you choos...

Re: Mint 11 LXDE

Overall, LXDE really sucks. Nonsense. LXDE is fine, the problem is YOU. Someone who clearly qualifies as PEBKAC probably shouldn't be using LXDE anyway, as it requires a little more DIY abilities than full blown desktops as Gnome and KDE. Whatever. Who asked you, anyway... You shouldn't post unless...

Re: Mint 11 LXDE

Not a fan of Mint 11 LXDE! Language support menu is not intuitive at all and the 'disappearing' scroll bar is annoying. The delay with the black screen while you wonder whether the OS will even load is ridiculous. But, the Language support and how bad the layout is and the fact you can't seem to fin...

Re: Mint 11 LXDE

Do you get a terminal bar? Installed Debian LXDE and there's no terminal bar. I googled and it looks like this bug remains from over a year ago. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/lxterminal-titlebar-missing-822726/ http://forum.mandriva.com/en/viewtopic.php?t=130465 http://ima...

Re: LMDE: A Great Disappointment <Decision Time>

P.S. I will try it anyway on my laptop. I wanted a pre-configured distro Debian-based for an old laptop. I don't mind manually doing everything on a newer computer but this is just an old laptop I want everything 'ready.' :) I think the 'how-to's' and other threads with updated info and instructions...

Re: LMDE: A Great Disappointment <Decision Time>

I agree with the OP. But, that's because the Mint team doesn't care about Debian. Their download still gives you the .32 kernel. So, their beloved 'Ubuntu version' is up to date and they make sure you know all about Mint 11. The Debian version (LMDE) has almost no info provided at all. Yep, big dis...

Re: Start the name Suggestions for Mint 12

How about 'Ubuntu 2?' Mint still is in love with Ubuntu and neglect Debian side. Where's the info on Debian? No where on its page.

Switching to (pure/straight) Debian!

Re: Critically improved Dutch translations available for LXD

Why do you need extra languages when one can't even change the keyboard layouts?

Why don't the lxde devs modify lxpanel so you can do so? Why are they so lazy?!?

Re: Love it!

LXDE is garbage! Can you explain why? Because it is crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't that a good enough reason? They are slow to develop any features or usability. It's been years and still NO FRIGGIN' keyboard layout gui. LxPanel is a total joke. I don't see any redeeming values or reason to use LXDE wha...

Hey, that solved it! Thanks, v1nce! But, alas, I am still confused! :D I'm wondering why I can right click for the 'settings' on that video link but not others. I still can't for the other url I was using. Strange. At least, hardware acceleration has been disabled now, right? PCLinuxOS has a very go...

Re: Java Plug in & Firefox crashes, Advice..?

Hi, my Mint install has the same problem. Sounds almost exactly. I have Mint 10 LMDE w/ Firefox 3.6.13 installed. Flash ver. is almost the same as yours, but at ver., 10.2.161.23. I have to reload the video after I get the black screen with the message, 'The Adobe Flash plugin has creashed. No repor...

Re: YouTube in Iceweasel

I have my LMDE pointed to Sid, and I'm running Iceweasel. A couple of days ago, after an update, YouTube quit working. Other flash sites played, but not YouTube. It just showed basic HTML, no flash at all. I googled repeatedly, without success, until I wandered over to the Debian forums, where ther...

Re: Multiple Keyboard Selection in LXDE

Obviously, they do some good things and it's a promising DE (even if it doesn't end up getting bloated like the other DEs) but keyboard selection options and development doesn't look to be a priority right now. I read on a year-old post in the LXDE forum that keyboard inputs/layouts is a bit complic...
