Re: Linux for the Classroom
One thing you might want to consider is if you're stuck with old hardware running win95 is trying say mint lxde or peppermint. Either one you could put on a live cd and see how it goes. Either one should get usable performance and allow rescores to used on something besides new pc's.

Re: Windows wireless drivers
Not sure how to put a link in here but just google malicious client eavesdropping you'll find the answer. basically just click on the desktop solves it

Re: Can't Play DVDs in LMDE
Bert I think your issue is probably drm I had the same issue with a dvd. Easy way to check that is download handbrke thru package maager a rip at least a little of a dvd and see if that plays.I'm assuming it either legal where you live or just want to use it as a test. Not advocating breaking the law

Re: package name for lmde non free codecs?
Thanks everyone :) . Think I'll mark this as solved although 1 dvd only plays like a slideshow with no sound suspect that may be a DRM issue every thing else seems to work. Ichecked the packages suggested and installed which didn't help the one dvd. The one puzzler to me is it plays flawlessly in th...

Re: package name for lmde non free codecs?

Well guess isadora stays for awhile till i figure it out. thanks for the help...

lmde kernel version? broadcom firmware (solved)
I,d love to install lmde and realize that for a noob like me I'll be doing some serious learning . After looking at the debian wiki on installing the broadcom firmware with fwcutter it seems to be somewhat kernel specific. I've googled looked in the forums, checked the blog and no luck finding kernel...

Re: A few questions from a Debian user.

I'm running Isadora main on a 5 year old acer 5050 with a 2 gig amd, 3gigs ram and 80 gig harddrive itworks great and has done pre...

Re: bad password baffled noob
thanks, jason thought I mentioned i was using the broadcom driver with fwdcutter which is what worked when I was dual booting with vista and helena. The real puzzler to me is while it won't stay connected more than 30 seconds trying wireless directly is when I am connected with ethernet to the route...
