Re: [SOLVED]Laptop: Wi-Fi works on A/C, not on battery - Min

PM-Utils was updated today and put the wireless right back where it was. Had to go in and make the same modification noted above.

Re: Laptop: Wi-Fi works on A/C, but not on battery - Mint 15

I stayed with the pm-utils directory convinced somewhere in there was a real solution. Following steps got me to what I think is a solution: On A/C power: iwconfig eth0 no wireless extensions. lo no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:"OnionNet" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Po...

Re: Laptop: Wi-Fi works on A/C, but not on battery - Mint 15

Still have the problem and have not found a definitive place where anything says to turn off wi-fi when on battery. However, Temporarily commented out this section in /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/laptop-mode laptop_mode_battery() { # enable laptop mode, set vm parameters to buffer as many writes as # p...

[SOLVED]Laptop: Wi-Fi works on A/C, not on battery - Mint 15

Fresh install of Mint 15, 64-bit worked flawlessly until I unplugged the A/C on the laptop and went into another room. Didn't realize that was the problem for a while. If I ping somewhere while plugged in, the ping responds normally, pull the A/C and the ping stops. Just sits there. Plug the A/C bac...

Re: Mint 15 Mate Screensaver/Display Idle dimming

If you go to usr/share/applications/ right-click on 'screensaver' and select 'Open as administrator', you will find that the setting is for 10 minutes for root. I unchecked this and seems to have taken care of the problem.

[SOLVED] Re: mintbackup - 'backup software selection' failur

Ok. Upgraded second desktop to Mint 15 (32-bit, Mate as are the others mentioned in previous post). This is the one where I actually had the mintbackup file indicating what packages were installed - written to both my /home/mike directory and to a floppy. Installed from live dvd. Formatted / partiti...

[SOLVED} mintbackup - 'backup software selection' failure

I have /home on a separate partition and back it up fairly regularly using 'luckybackup'. What intrigued me about mintbackup was "Backup software selection" - its ability to 'save' info on what additional packages I had added to my installation. The assumption being that I could restore that list af...

OK. Works now. Changed two entries in the following, lo.ok for the two comments near the bottom of what I extracted sudo gedit /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless get_wireless_params() { # $1 = interface # $2 = on or off unset iwpriv iwconfig iwlevel # Don't do anything if we cannot find a driver for...

Re: wireless will not connect on battery

Same problem on my Dell laptop - 64-bit Maya. So far, haven't found anywhere to set on/off for the wireless if battery powered. Gotta be around here somewhere.

Gnome shows 328 bug reports against Brasero.

I quit trying it several releases ago. K3B for me.

Re: Silverlight-caused problem

Screenshot--dev-sda - GParted.png OK. It did take a while, but I managed to get this done. Win7 has been installed in the first 3 partitions of the drive. The 4th primary has to be the extended partition, so I had to move Mint into there. I got temporarily stuck trying to resize the extended partit...

1. Your win7 from 640G drive probably need all these three partitions 1,2,3 and total about 185GB This is very big hence if you copy it will take very very very long time. Re: Silverlight-caused problem

USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE cables are available, or simply get an external enclosure for your drive. These will usually be USB 2.0, not USB 3.0. If you need USB 3.0, you will need to purchase one of the newer external drives, as far as I have seen so far. Once you have your drive connected and powered (yo...

Thought about this, but cannot do an 'install' of Win7. That would require the installation media and what I have is the pre-installed version on a hard drive.

Silverlight-caused problem

This may take a while to describe, but here goes: Dell i5 core laptop with 640Gb hard drive with Windows 7. Yanked this drive leaving Windows 7 intact on it. Installed 1.5Tb hard drive and installed Mint 13 Mate onto it. So far, most of what I need is available in Mint. A few programs required insta...
