Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5 [UPDATE: 16/10/2012]

Installing Nvidia via DDM now. First thing I notice that needs attention is font rendering . Poor as is. Needs these tweaks. system settings > application appearance > Fonts > Use anti-aliasing:(ENABLED) (Configure) > Use sub-pixel rendering: RGB Hinting style: Slight Big Improvement with these set...

Re: Debian Plymouth Manager - Help needed

Oh, ok. I didn't realize it was a feature. ;) And I'm glad to get my plymouth fixed. It really bugged me after snagging UP6. I do hope you can get some downtime this week and just enjoy the holiday with your family and friends.

Re: Debian Plymouth Manager - Help needed

I'd completely missed that there was a new dpm and was wondering why I was seeing a greenish-tinted plymouth splash with some gradients (I had forgotten to snap a pic with my camera's phone) but when I saw the update about LMDE KDE UP6 RC1 I checked the dpm thread and remembered there was an update ...

Re: Desktop Screenshots Thread - December 2012

Yep. The wallpaper is the Christmas card I got from Zombie Attack Kitty on Facebook. I've got all the deets on my system on my site, including a link to ZAK.

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5 [UPDATE: 16/10/2012]

It turns out I hadn't snagged the current version of DDM so I had to install that first. Beyond that, I cheated and ran sws without a reboot to get a screenshot with it. Shiny! http://bostonpeng.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/desktop-2012-12-22c.png Once I get the article written for my site I'll post ...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5 [UPDATE: 16/10/2012]

I finally sat down to take some desktop screenshots of my holiday desktop for the desktop screenie thread and I tried to run the welcome screen but nothing happened. I grabbed Yakuake and tried to launch it from there and got this: $ welcome-screen DEBUG Startup command: python /usr/lib/welcome-scre...

Re: Nvidia Graphics Drivers - Install Guide

I ended up with an interrupted upgrade to LMDE (KDE) UP6 and ultimately got a terminal login prompt once I got things upgraded but had managed to get things fixed. Yesterday I finally remembered to edit my /etc/X11/xorg.conf to add Option "NoLogo" "true" to get rid of the Nvidia splash but when I fi...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5 [UPDATE: 16/10/2012]

My system rebooted to a KDE login prompt. No GUI login. Uh oh! I then tried the previous version listed in the boot menu. That gave me a GUI login, but after that no display at all. For others that want to prevent the experience of installing "the other" OS  : rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf Reboot, an...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5 [UPDATE: 16/10/2012]

I'm sorry I haven't been able to test more for you but it looks like yo have folks testing the important things. I like the idea of making a difference between LMDE KDE and the Xfce version. As much as I'd like to see LMDE KDE become an official CE respin I think it's a better idea to keep going the...

That's looking pretty nice, Schoelje, especially the fact that you're splitting the sections so we can deal with one at a time. I look forward to playing with it.

Love the wall Marc. If it weren't for that bar at the bottom I'd snag it for sure. I see a lot of great looking desktops this month! Lots of variations and styles. Re: deleting system wallpapers

No problem. I know how it can be figuring out how and where KDE does things. I do reinstalls every now and then and have long been glad I document things on my blog so I can remember what I did the previous time.
