Re: Can't enable publish-to-Facebook in Shotwell

Thanks but the issue in Shotwell is it needs packages which would radically alter Linux Mint. It will install fine but it cannot publish to any photo sharing websites without the authentication packages listed above. Yet when you try to install it: $ sudo apt-get install gnome-control-center-signon...

Re: Cannot open .pdf files

Sorry. I'm using Mint 17 Cinnamon. I've tried opening them with document viewer. I was wondering if I need to add a python something? Or are they corrupt and I need to get another copy? A lot of newer downloaded .pdf file will not open unless you are using Adobe Reader version 10 or higher. Not ava...

Re: How Linux entered into your life!!!

My introduction to Linux started before Linux existed. During the 70's while in the Navy we used Unix systems. In the early 90's Suse introduced their OS which I used for a few months (still have the 40 floppys needed to install) before switching to IBM's OS. I then switched to Windows 3.1 and DOS 6...

Looking at the specs on this laptop shows it to have a CD/DVD Rom drive. Has the one on this machine been replaced with a CD drive?

Another OS which is designed for older computers is Bodhi. And it will go on a CD...

Is the drive working properly?

It may also be a bad iso burn to DVD.

Turn the computer off for a few seconds then restart..

Re: How to automount ntfs drives in Linux Mint 17 KDE?

The easiest way I have found to automount NTFS partitions is to open a terminal and enter sudo apt-get install ntfs-config Once done go to your system folder and open the NTFS configuration tool and check the partitions you want mounted and make sure to give read/write to each. This will automatical...

KaOS

I installed this distro on a spare drive for testing today.. My impressions are it does not have much of a future if they keep going in the direction they are going.. They state on their website that they want to keep it small with a small user base.. With only 2041 packages in their repo there is n...

Re: How to reset Mint to defaults, for sale of laptop?

OK since you don't know what I am referring to some laptop and computer makers will sell with Linux pre-configured. If you want that disk you have to buy it otherwise you get it for free when downloading the iso from a mirror or torrent. This is not a pre-configured disk.. OEM references a disk that...
