Re: How to reset Mint to defaults, for sale of laptop?

The only secure way to delete your personal information is to give the entire drive a 1-3 pass wipe then do a clean install and updates without installing your personal information. Use a generic username and password. Once the sale is complete you can help the buyer add a new user and assign that u...

Re: Libre Office

You should be easily able to use ubuntu's ppa repositories on Mint, as far as I'm aware, so try doing this. It it is not possible, my apologies, but it certainly used to be a straight copy of these Ubuntu instructions to Mint. First run sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa and then sudo apt-...

Re: Starting a website

A (so called free) website for business won't earn you any points..especially if it contains advertising which most free site will. You will need to purchase a domain name and pay for web hosting to get anywhere.. Then find someone who can build a professional looking site unless you can do so yours...

Re: corebird dependencies (noob)

Neither Corebird nor its dependencies are in the Mint repos so you will have to go here https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuhandbook1/ ... u/corebird to add the repos.

But first open synaptic and click edit fix broken packages..

Re: GUI hangs after Nadia to Qiana upgrade

Yes I am aware that a clean install is better and would prefer it normally. However I have put a lot of work into my current install. Especially getting Oracle 11g to run took some effort. I am now attempting it going the long road (14 > 15 > 16 > 17). First step 14 > 15 isnt working giving me this...

Re: GUI hangs after Nadia to Qiana upgrade

There are many warning posts about why you should not upgrade but instead do a clean install. Upgrading should never be attempted by more than a single upgrade (such as Mint 16 to Mint 17) if you choose to do so.. I've only done it one time and it took a couple of days to finally get my system tweak...

Re: Please please help me backup so I can switch to Mint 17

The only backup I do is personal files. I don't backup the entire system. Use an external drive to backup or burn the files to a data CD/DVD. I would advise redundant backup for the most important files.. Once you get all of your personal files taken care of then you can wipe the drive and install M...

Re: Can I install plasma 5?

Neon is still in beta a a ways from being stable. I would only recommend installing to a test machine..

I had it installed on a test machine but recently removed it since it is so unstable..

Stick with what you currently have till KDE5 is stable..
