Re: flashplugin and pulseaudio

uhm at the risk of seeming a bit spammy and annoying I can only repeat that this needs stickying - every couple of days this thread needs linking because someone new starts another "sound not working" thread without having realized it's flash/pulse -related. +1 Yes I totally agree this is...

Re: Connection to repo problems. And a sound issue.

I don't know why you cant update I've never seen it before but it does seem like it's a connection problem ... as far a sound problems its a known issue (?) with pulse audio not being configured correctly by default ... see the following post to fix it http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=141...

Re: No desktop after last update (Solved)

I tried running aticonfig --initial as root but the window manager won't load.I'm running 2.6.35 with no problem but it seems the new kernel has some issues. Is there a program I can use to trace the problem and forward the log to damentz (I hope I spelled his name right :) )? Or should I wait for ...

Re: Audacity problems [solved]

[solved] has been added. Seriously, I know it sounds corny, but this is a big thing for me. I would use my favorite distro, but if I needed that one function I had to boot into another distro to do the task, then boot back. How silly. <grin> Oh I understand completely it's no fun when things are no...

Re: Audacity problems

you may want to try creating a asound.conf file like this post if you haven't already ... basically the only difference between the LMDE and Main editions and may in fact solve your problem ... by default pulseaudio isn't configured correctly  ... let us know ... http://forums.linuxmint.com/v...

Re: No desktop after last update (Solved)

This has happened to me once as well, when an update for kernel headers came down. I booted into recovery mode and as root ran "aticonfig --initial" then I could boot into the regular desktop. However it wasn't displaying correctly and when I went to the ATI Control center it told me that ...

Re: Wy can't I change screen resoltuion?

I have ATI myself, so I can not help you through the specifics, though, a friend of mine has Nvidia and installing the proprietary drivers gave him more control over his graphics, including screen resolutions. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=141&t=55165 The thread I've listed above ...

Re: How do I get compiz to work on my ATI card?

gnome compositing and compiz are two programs that do the same thing, and trying to run both doesn't work as you've found out. I suggest that you turn off gnome compositing, reboot, and try the compiz stuff again . . . google is your friend, and there is a compiz wiki too. http://wiki.compiz.org/ E...

Re: How do I get compiz to work on my ATI card?

I have gnome compositing enabled, but whenever I click features that I'd like in the CompizConfig Settings Manager, nothing takes effect. My laptop has a Radeon 5730 card. Does anyone know how I can have the effects that I enable work? My second question is that when I look at the sources for LMDE,...

Re: Wy can't I change screen resoltuion?

I thought this would be the case... Is there any way that I can do this automatically? Last time I tried installing the drivers manually, something went terribly wrong and I had to re-install LMDE. Is it possible to do this with Synaptic? If so, what do I install? I tried searching for Nvidia in th...

Re: HOWTO: Emerald on LMDE

I actually set up the repo with the intent of building the package you've linked there ugh, a static .deb would only do "for the time being" The repo is.. 2 days old? if that. Thanks for the links, I'll try to get them built later. Good point about it being in a main repo, which, obviousl...

Re: A little rant about fairness

Dude it's Linux. Total freedom. You can do what you want with it. LMDE is more flexible than any other version offered by Mint. I for one love this edition. If users want to configure it differently thats fine as it is their right to do so as they see fit. If they want to remove everything Mint abo...
