[Solved] Backup tool AND Gnome to Xfce

Hi! I'm wanting to switch from the standard Mint 10 with Gnome to Mint 10 Xfce (just as soon as that's available). Now, if I use the backup tool in the Linux Mint Gnome to back up data and software, then install the Xfce version, then restore my data and software, should it work? Provided I've got t...

Re: Removing a dual boot; can it (should it) be done?

ALTHOUGH My use of the Backup tool mostly worked. With the notable exception of Thunderbird. I therefore replaced Thunderbird with Evolution. At least with Evolution, I can back up all the mail and filters, etcetera, with one back up file. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to restore any...

That would explain why I couldn't find any!

Oh well, it wasn't very important.

Thanks!

[Solved] Xfce Desktop Sounds; are there any?

Hi again!

Does anyone know if there are sounds for the Mint Xfce desktop? I just like having background noises, so I know when I'm clicking the mouse, or opening or closing windows. Just something that's in the "nice to have" category.

Thanks...

[Solved] Trash can icon on Xfce desktop

Hi!

I had to reinstall Mint 9 Xfce on my netbook. But I now don't seem to have a trash can icon on the desktop. It's just handy having it there. Can anyone tell me how I can go about having the trash can on the desktop?

Thanks...

Re: Removing a dual boot; can it (should it) be done?

Okay, so you want to heep Mint 9 xfce .. is that in the 1st or the 2nd partition ?. if it's in the 1st - then that's easy :) wipe the other O/S & that partition & remove that entry from the boot menu. if it's in the 2nd - that's trickier :( you can't actually remove that 1st partition, as it's got ...

Re: Make Mint 10 Live Persistent USB

Speaking of which... Is it possible to do any of that from Linux? I tried following the pen drive Linux thing to make a persistent portable Linux on a USB drive of my own. But no such luck; that bit of software was for Windows. Any suggestions on how one can make one's own persistent Linux Mint inst...

[Solved] Removing a dual boot; can it (should it) be done?

Hi again, all! Okay, the thing is, I have a dual netbook; using Mint 9 Xfce and Ubuntu Netbook edition. It's just plain silly, to be honest, to have a dual boot on that computer; it's like having two netbooks to keep updated and all that fun stuff. So, I've decided I just want it to be running solel...

Re: Changing Xfce Meu

One of the newest versions of XFCE (4.6 or something) removed the ability to edit the menu normally. I went looking for and found a decent replacement that I still use now called myGTKMenu . The only thing that might bother you is that there is no GUI for menu editing, you have to do it by hand in ...

Re: Changing Xfce Meu

Depending on which version of Xfce you have installed ... the Menu can be changed. But, it is neither simple or easy. http://xfce.org http://wiki.xfce.org How to customize the Xfce Menu >> http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menu From what I can surmise the new (and not in the repros yet) Xfce ver...

Re: Two quick questions

Some forums let you upload your avatar image directly to the forum. This isn't one of them. You have to either use one of the standard ones the site provides, or link to an image on another server. As noted, imageshack is a good choice, made for this type of thing. You can upload your image to thei...

[Solved] Two quick questions

Hello there!

Just two things:
(1) Can you mark your posts/topics as "Solved"? I can't seem to figure out how to do so.
(2) How can you change your Avatar? I don't seem to have one showing and can't seem to make one work.

Thanks all!
