I think people just want to test out the new KDE.

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

I might do the same when I get back from my vacation just to try out KDE. I have never tried KDE before so I want to get used to it. But once LM KDE comes out I'll reinstall over =D.

Re: LMDE 64bit - The 1st 64bit OS that I've ever used

Am I the one who thought LMDE 64 bit was really slow? For some reason I kept freezing for like 10 seconds, especially on firefox. Went back to LM10 and everything was back to normal. Guess my laptop is not compatible with it. LMDE 32 wasreally fast on my desktop.

how to install new theme

I just downloaded this http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=70611&forumpage=1 and I am a little confuse on how to install it. I have Emerald and imported the emerald theme, but the only thing that changed was the title bar which looks good, but I also want my taskbar to change as well....

Re: KDE adjustment feature to drag windows on Gnome

It is a little buggy in Gnome if you're planning to use the mouse. Here is a tutorial for using shortcuts to do it, it is a lot less buggy.

loud beep when login menu pops up and during shut down

How do I turn this off? The beep is not coming from my speakers. It seems to be coming from the motherboard speaker. I blacklisted pcspkr like one post suggested, but it does not work. pcspkr is gone though.

Re: no sound below 20%

I just installed it and I noticed that the mixer master bar was all the way at the bottom even though the volume bar is not at 0. How do I fix this?

Thanks. I did not know what exactly the program was called so I didn't know where to start looking in the system bash.bashrc file =)

terminal quotes+ANSI pictures

I am wondering where can I find the bash shell code / program to generate the quotes+ANSI pictures every time I open the terminal? I want to port it to tcsh which is what I am using because I am more familiar with its syntax.

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

Now that Mint KDE is going to use a better start menu, I can try using it now =). The default start menu for KDE was the only thing stopping me from using it.

Command not found. When I did pavucontrol, I see the little playback bar moving left and right showing that the system is picking up that something is playing, but then I do not have sound below 20%

no sound below 20%

I noticed that when I set my volume control settings to below 20%, I would get no sound. This applies system wide on all applications. The sound does not just fade away, it just mute itself below 20%. Any idea on how to fix? My laptop model is Dell M1530 and I am using Mint 10

instantly connect wireless connection

Right now, it takes around 20 seconds for my computer to decide to connect to a wireless connection. Are there any settings that make it connect as soon as the desktop loads like on Windows?

Should I put my swap partition on my SSD or on my secondary HD with my /home partition? Or does this matter?

Re: Boot Splash + 64-bit

I have this exact same issue right after I installed the ATI proprietary drivers. Changing the resolution did not do the trick. I guess this is a bug and we should learn to live with it for now?

Re: theme

I am not on Linux right now so I cannot check, but I am using a combination of the Shiki-Wise control theme with some of the themes used in MintBlue. This makes the menus for everything black which I like, but it makes some fonts unreadable on black. I want to make only my taskbar and my start menu ...
