Re: [SOLVED] Xfce Debian and Chromium/Chrome

+1 LifeInTheGrey, your solution worked great. I had the same problems with Chrome after installing LMDE Xfce 64bit. Thanks for another easy fix, easy on my end that is, sounds like you put a great deal of effort into it. Edit: One small bug Grey, it didn't stick. When I rebooted Chrome went back to ...

Re: Mounting sdb1 for data storage

I have all of my mount points in /mnt or in /media. Could you post a few screem shots so I can see the tree, I really am trying to learn. Whats the advantage of /mnt/sda# ? Over the past year I have installed and used many different OSs in an effort to learn about Linux. When I first started I woul...

Re: Mounting sdb1 for data storage

I may be wrong about this, but it sounds like /data is in the / directory, not in the /root directory. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what's the result of the following command?
You are correct. I should have said root directory or simply /

Re: Mounting sdb1 for data storage

Sorry about that, I guess it is working the way it should be. I saved a large file to /data and Gparted reported the file size in over-all used. What threw me was that /data was in the /root directory. I expected it to show up like the other OSs in Nautilus. I just don't know enough about how Linux ...

Re: Mounting sdb1 for data storage

A bit of information I forgot in the first post. LMDE is installed in partition sda6 Here is the output from the commands, sleven@unit1 ~ $ cat /etc/fstab # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'vol_id --uuid' to print the universally unique identifier for a # device; this may be used...

Mounting sdb1 for data storage

I just installed LMDE 64bit. Before installing I used Gparted to format sdb1 (160G) as a primary partition ext4 and labeled it /data. During the LMDE install I also labeled sdb1 as /data. What I want to do is store all my downloads on sdb1. When I went to configure Chrome to put the downloads there,...

Re: Little extras that make Linux easier or more fun

Thanks for the post aging. I need a bit of clarification if you will. I'm trying to install burg in LMDE. I saw your post here: I did it some time ago. Burg is now the first thing I install whenever I install a fresh version of Mint or any other Ubuntu based distro. (It also works in LMDE) See my po...

Re: Missing Plugins after Firefox 5 upgrade

Thanks SiKing for the link. Plugin compatibility wasn't the issue. It had something to do with the symbolic link to the plugin. I think I really messed FF up trying a few different fixes. Since this was a part of a new install, I just started over with the complete OS install. I wanted a stable vers...

[SOLVED] Missing Plugins after Firefox 5 upgrade

I've read thru several posts regarding upgrading to FF 5 but can't find a solution to the missing plugins. After using apt-get update to update to FF5, the icon would no longer start FF. I was able to get FF5 to work after installing it according to the instructions on this page: http://www.johannes...

Re: Compiz conflict crash

I created another partition and installed LMDE on the same HDD. I had planned on doing this eventually as a backup OS so it wasn't that big of a deal. When I entered the, "apt-get purge fusion-icon" command, it said fusion-icon wasn't installed. gconftool-2 --type string --set /desktop/gnome/session...

Re: Compiz conflict crash

Thanks for the help Grey, I made sure the command was typed in just as it is in the post. After hitting enter it just went back to the command line without doing anything. When I rebooted it locked up in the middle of booting (after the main screen but before booting was finished) Went back to the c...

Compiz conflict crash

I installed LMDE this weekend and am tracking Squeeze. Everything seemed to be working great until this morning. I was exploring the Compiz manager settings, turned the 3d cube on, gears with transparency, zoom... everything worked as expected until I enable window reflection. When I enabled window ...

Re: Video Save Disabled

Thanks anmys, that works to accomplish the same outcome.

If anyone knows why LMDE save option is grayed out and Mint 10 isn't, I would still like to know.

Ubuntu grays out the option also.

At this point it is just a point of curiosity.

Video Save Disabled

There is a subtle difference between LMDE and Mint 10 that I need help with. In Mint 10 if I view a video at stagevu.com, when the video has completely loaded I have the option to save it to my HDD. In LMDE the option is shaded out and I'm not able to save, this is also the case in Ubuntu. Anyone kn...

Re: Mint 11 Google phone issue

Thanks wyrdoak, I tried your suggestion but it made no difference. It might be because I don't have an internal mic.

I did solve the problem, I installed LMDE and the google phone plugin is working great.

Thanks again for your suggestion.

[SOLVED] Mint 11 Google phone issue

I started using Mint almost a year ago now and am very pleased with it overall with one exception. My Google phone sounds very bad to the person I'm calling. It sounds fine on my end. The strange part is that it works great in Ubuntu 10.04. Over the past two months I have found myself using Ubuntu m...

Re: Increasing mouse speed on startup

Hi elrasho, not sure why that did not work. I went back and read the entire thread again. straight after I login to Mint the mouse cursor does move at the speed I want, but after a few seconds reverts back to the slow speed. Putting it in the startup should work, and it sounds like it might be tryin...

Re: Resizing Linux Mint installed in Windows

Hi Keshin 1. You might want to start a new threat (in hardware support) with a different topic to get an answer on this one. 2. Yes. You can install to a USB drive directly,or you could use UNetbootin to create a live USB, or LiLi to create a live USB with the ability to store data and install progr...

You have Mint installed in a virtual partition within Windows, not in a real partition.
